Is antibiotic ointment good for poison ivy?

I didn't put it on yet, but I have to make sure if it'll help or worsen it. Oh, and: it's just regular antibiotic ointment.

No. It will spread the poison ivy because the itchy stuff is an oily substance.

Well, oils don't dry well. It needs a kitty litter effect: absorb it into a dry material, which is what Calamine Lotion does....which reminds me so much about a song called "Poison Ivy" (The Coasters); it contains the line "you're gonna need an ocean...of Calamine lotion..." :)
