There's a chemical in some foods that makes people go to sleep, it's most commonly found in birds. (turkey, duck, goose ect.) hope this helps :)

It's in almost all foods though, you feeling more sleepy is probably a result of eating more and getting less sleep or eating later at night

tryptophane? Amino acid

I honestly don't know what it's called, I think it's something like melatonin though. But I'm not in any way a chemical expert so idk

Tired as in sleepy? I do not know. Tired as in bored? Have you ever eaten at a Lutheran potluck dinner??

Tryptophan in foods like turkey can make you sleepy. Could be you are overeating which can make you sluggish and lazy.

well, sometimes after you eat your stomach feels satisfied, so your mind becomes satisfied too and the only thing your incontinent wants to do is rest, the same happens to me after school!

Besides some foods containing tryptophan, some foods take longer to digest than others. Your body may be needing more energy than normal to digest your food thus making you sleepy.
This can be a good thing if your trying to lose weight. Most people going from a junk food diet to a healthy diet experience this at first. This is just my two cents, believe it or don't!

it sounds like you might solve this by eating smaller meals more often. you can even out the highs and lows in blood sugar levels that way, and you should start to feel better ( less tired) pretty quickly. this sounds very much like the 2:00 p.m. slump that is so common when people don't eat lunch early enough. after they eat, their blood sugar rises and they get so sleepy that it feels like they won't make it to the end of the day without a nap. good luck, I hope the answer is this simple.

It could be wheat or sugar. After eating those, I can't keep my eyes open.
