Just a little P.S. Always use COLD water and try not to handle the dough any more than you have to. Our hands give off lots of heat and that can help toughen up a dough, too. My (Italian) mother used to make the best pie crust ever and she always used Crisco and ice cubes in her water. She never put her dough into the fridge, though, and most bakers do. But to this day, I've never had a better crust than hers. Good Luck!! Happy Baking!

I will try that one also sounds good so would you add a little bit of Crisco into the water?

I recently made a blueberry pie using a homemade graham-cracker crust I found on www.allrecipes.com You can find anything on this site. It improved my baking skills. Good luck!

1 cup flour, 1 cup butter flavor Crisco and 1 cup ice water. knead the first two adding water by increments till you reach your desired consistency. wrap in plastic wrap four one hour.
you most likely will not use all the water.

I have made MANY pie crusts. The one from America's Test Kitchen is the best and is always flaky. It calls for vodka to be used in the crust -- it is essential to the get the correct texture and flakiness -- the flavor and alcohol evaporates as it cooks.
Here is a link to the recipe:

It never fails. I have been using it exclusively for about 8 years now. It is very easy to make and tastes great....no vodka flavor at all and the flakiness is amazing!

Plus it has a minimal amount of shortening and best of all...NO LARD!

Yummy, I am borrowing your recipe as well which I don't think you will mind. I was never good at baking however, I always go by the saying, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I hope you both enjoy your day!

Chocolate Coconut Crust is yummy! Combine 4 oz. sweet baking chocolate & 2 T butter in medium saucepan. Heat over low heat until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in 2 C coconut (I find sweetened a bit much depending on the kind of pie you make). Press into pan. Chill 4 hours.

Get a chocolate pie crust at almost all markets and get a jar of REAL (only) Key Lime Juice with the recipe on the container at almost most WalMarts and also direct from the company. Get a can of whip cream and put that on top when you serve. You will never forget this one.

I love this. It Is fast and goof proof..
Keeps well in the freezer.
Also great to cut in strips and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

5 cups pastry flour
1 lb lard (I use real butter or butter flavored crisco)
1 can 7-Up soda (sometimes a bit more 7up)

Directions:
1 Cut lard (or butter) into flour until it is the consistency of coarse oatmeal.
2 Add 7-up and mix thoroughly.
3 Place in fridge for approximately one hour.
