My mother in law had dementia and walked out of a nursing home and died of hypothermia, is there a case for a law suit?
She had dementia and had a bracelet which was supposed to sound an alarm when she walked out any door. the home said it never went off, but the computer print out said it did. She was found about 8 hours later dead from freezing to death. The nursing home is of course in protect mode and not very cooperative. The police are investigating and the family is very upset, this is no way for a person to die, especially when she was in the home because she was a wanderer. They have been paid a lot of money to make sure she was safe and she ended up dying. This happened in Eau Claire WI. The funeral is on Tuesday April 2, 2013. We are exploring options at this point, any advise would be greatly appreciated!
