Are pharmaceutical firms obliged to cut their prices for poor AIDS victims?

i don't know which side to choose,,yes or no side???

Of course they should, but they don't have to. They make less money with dropping the prices, possibly making them pay less to their workers, I don't think that's fair.

No. The sole responsibility of a commercial entity is to generate more money than it costs to keep operating. It is the job of a Governments and citizens to ensure the health and well being of people.

Pharmaceutical companies are in the business for one reason and one reason only ... Ginormous profitability.

There is a lot of controversy about just how much power pharmaceutical companies have globally. .. And that they perpetuate the needs of the products they sell. They don't want us to get well .. They would rather we stay ill because it is better for business. People in good health don't buy medication.

Sadly, so much of the life altering medications are far too costly for the poor ... Not just limited to aids victims. The is so much poverty in this world, where people endure unspeakable cruelties due to illness, injuries not to mention birth defects that can not afford even the most basic medications.

@ JennyCarlosPregunta .. my concern is not JUST for aids patients .. AIDS patients are among many who desperately not only are fighting for their life but some level of comfort because they can't afford medication.

So I guess my answer to your question is YES .. I think medication should be made affordable to EVERYONE.

It makes no sense to have a drug so expensive your customers can't afford it.
