It doesn't really stop at night, it just doesn't seem to be as much because you are lying down so gravity isn't helping your flow. There isn't anything to be afraid of, it just comes, you wear feminine protection, then it goes away.

I hope you do know that this means that you CAN get pregnant if you have sex. Don't let anybody convince you that you can't the first time or if you've only had one period or any of the other foolish things a boy will say to try to get you to do it. You are responsible now for your reproductive health, and the healthiest word in your vocabulary is NO! Use it often and with relish.

I've heard that your period ebbs and flows with the tides of the oceans. I don't know if that is true, but it will be heavier and then lighter through your cycle. when you think it is over, a couple of days later you might see more blood. this is normal too. its scary until you have it every month for about a year and can figure it all out.

You just started, so it's absolutely normal. You may want to keep a towel under you, because you might just go heavy, without even knowing it, and wake up with blood on your bed sheet. It's okay to go heavy though.

Also, since this is your first time, there is a huge chance that when this period stops, you won't have another period for at least 3-4 months, but every woman is different. After so many months though, your menstrual cycle will be normal. There are some times that it will be irregular though. Stress, pregnancy, and diet can cause a period to be irregular. It is very important that you keep track of your cycle as well.
