Why do humans need spit?
Because spit balls is what makes life through elementary days, worth it!
It begins to break food down as you chew it.
To make their food softer for digestion.

Saliva is what helps your body break down the food on its way to the stomach and is what keeps your mouth from drying out. You know how snails have that gooey stuff that keeps them hydrated? Thats kind of what spit does for your mouth.
Imagine if you didn't have any....eating would be difficult.
