son has speech problem....

my son is almost 3 in a couple of months and can only say a hand full of words. he has had surgery to correct a micro form cleft and nose, also tubes in his ears, and his tongue has been clipped cause he was severely tongue tied. he still doesn't have control over it a year later. does anyone know of any good techniques or exercises that could help???

I do believe this also... just wanted to help him. I don't want him to have any set backs in life and right now he is way behind in alit just the speech is the main thing I worry about cause he only has a year and a half before school but I do know a lot can happen in that time :)

ask him if he has any cool dance moves that he would like to teach you because you don't know how to dance. I do that with my nieces and nephew. I ask them if they would you teach me how to dance. Then they teach me a movement or two which I on purpose mess up so they feel that they are teaching me something hard. Then I say, how would you like to teach me how to sing....and there you go.

Even if he had not had those procedures, some children don't say full sentences at that age. My niece would try to speak, but no one understood what she was talking about when she was three. I think me and my sister confused her because I would talk to her in english and my sister would talk to her in spanish, and she was too young to understand the difference. However, she is five now and she won't stop talking at times. Just give him time and encouragement.
