think about it. if any person ever does anything, it is because they think it will make them happy. whether it is helping a homeless man, being with the one you love, or suicide, it is directly or indirectly because they think it will make them happy. the same goes for all creatures in the world. so go be happy.

The meaning of life is to leave the world better off than when you got here. Not many people have thus far.

The simplest answer to this question, is that the meaning of life, our whole purpose for being here, is to love, and be loved. We were created solely out of love by our creator, who continues to love us in this world. Most people being honest will say that their greatest goal in their life is to find true love, and finally, as the creator created us only out of love for us, then is it not appropriate that we should reciprocate that love?

Love, the choice to do what is best for another, and put them first even at a cost to yourself, is the truest, and most pure reason we live, it is in fact the very meaning of life.

Philippians 3: 7 "...whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead."

It originally was for Gods pleasure, but jealousy from the Accuser set a war in motion. Now it is to find God & fight for righteousness.

Hi Shay! I have missed talking with you, gosh I hope you've been doing well! And I also hope that that last big conversation we had didn't in some way put anything between us....because your honesty was very dear to me...I mean ,that I took it as you trusted me with something very personal, and I hope you think that I responded properly, that's all :). Well, of course you've been on my mind, not constantly, but I thought of you just yesterday, and I want to tell you about how it came about. I was watching a show that I had recorded Sunday night while I was watching Game of Thrones. There was an interview on this evangelical/political show that I watch on Fox News. Mike Huckabee was interviewing Jeff Bethke, a young man who has a Christian rap YouTube video with 22 million views. I wish you'd check it out, he has a Godly gift, he is a prophet, you'll see what I mean when you watch. I was listening and doing other stuff, and he said some stuff...and then your name came up in my mind! Clear as day, Shay. Shay, I think that God wants me to tell you what the young man said in the interview, okay? I wrote it out in notes, so I'm going to type them out for you next. I love you dear girl, don't leave a sister hanging! Bye!

Hi Beth, I've been fine, great actually, just lost interest in Ask somewhat. You have never said or done anything to offend me. You are one of the few that I can be myself with, I love that.
Now tell me my message please, I'm so excited to hear.
& then tell me how you have been.
Lov Shay.

Oh hello dear friend, it is wonderful we're here at the same time !! I looked for you yesterday, and as you know, you hadn't answered a question in 7 day :(. So, I was bummed , but its better now. So Shay, they started out showing a bit of the vid. with him rapping...i catch the last two lines, so thats what I'm going to start with, its basically Godly social commentary assortment. Shay, im string the scene for context, we're not to the part about you, okay? So first he's talking about how he's a church teen, living a double-life and he says "...see I spent my whole life building this facade of meekness, but now that I know Jesus, I boast in my weakness...". Okay, so Huckabee says,"that's an unusual statement, what did you mean by that? could you explain it to people? And he answers," The Apostle Paul says in his letter to the Corinthians: When you have Jesus as your standing, Jesus as the one representing you as a Christian, representing you on your behalf to the Father, you can boast in your weakness, you can be free to fail, because you're not the one representing yourself, Christ is. Christians to some degree should be the most transparent, and the most vulnerable people on earth, because we're the only ones who don't represent ourselves." AND later, he said," Here's what God wants from us:,He's not after external behavior , He's after a heart that loves him, pursues Him, and desires Him , and has been transformed by Him." :) bye!

Well, now I'm shedding tears because those sweet words just slay me...Shay, you know i always try to add my two cents, but this...I can't explain it...and for once,I can't find the words...lets just sit back in awe and absorb it, shall we?

That is a fantastic message for me. When I first come to Ask I was on fire & doing really well in my walk, I was not struggling but I was overcoming. After a time a certain Christian (not purposely, I'm sure) made me feel like I was deceived, like I was not as safe as I thought I was. I needed to step out of the game for with that doubt came overpowering of weaknesses & I was then weaker than when I started. That's why I don't like getting into doctrines, they always make me stumble. I love Christ & the lessons the Spirit teaches me, I feel strengthened by him, & thrown down by mans interpretations.
Thank you Beth, you are a beautiful soul.
May the peace of God, that transcends understanding, guard your heart & your mind in Christ Jesus.
Do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer & petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.
love Shay.

Oh thank you dear girl, for your graciousness toward me! I'm just so glad that he reminded "us" of how valuable we are to God. And how we're both on the right track Shay! I got very discouraged too, here on Ask, about 2 weeks ago, the trolls were so bad one day, and I just fired off at one girl about how she sounded like she regretted ever being created, because she was not pleases with her Creator's rules!! It sounds harmless, but I was really upset by her answer, and that what i did was really...like, horrible. (I wanted to remind her of the lake of fire, but that would have been overkill, no?)and after that, I've spent the last two weeks talking about books, and clothes, and finding the perfect dark blue Addidas Princess '80's style aerobic sneakers w/orange stripe and laces. Not the high top ones tho :). (The search is still on!). So, I dipped my toe back in the water, and came back to the Religion catagory...but I'm being very ...particular from now on. I'm so glad we chatted, oh and by the way, he said something that "spoke"to me too , he was saying that Jesus may not have been considered conservative today, and that we're not to elevate politics beyond what we should, because it makes us demonize the other side." And it's a smart thing to say now, in the time of great political upheaval, and especially to me, i confess, I've been known to be a rabid Republican, and I'd like to push back against the tide of Socialism, but what I really don't want to do is to interfere with what God said must come to pass. So, it's no good for me to keep going down that road any longer :(. I've got some stretching to do, so pray for me :). Night, night dear Shay...

Shay, I know that certain Christian you mentioned before was not me, because I pointed you to Grace. I told you at the first that I had been raised Baptist, in a section of the country called the Baptist Bible Belt, and we all were taught Law and Grace mixed together. (And if we didn't respect the Bible, we got the belt:) It was a world of do's and don'ts, Christians judging Christians as well as unbelievers !!! And we were all brainwashed to a certain degree. And they are so sure that they are right, It seems they just cannot be reasoned with. And YOU Shay, you came to your faith in a completely different way! And I admire that so much!!! I praise God that when He called you, you listened and found your way to Him! To me, that's just a miracle! And you love Him so much that you just want to sing praise songs to Him, and proclaim your faith in Him, it's so beautiful! And to think that somebody messed with your head like that makes me crazy to find them and put the fear of God on them for false teaching! Peter says that they "twist the word to their own destruction"! I never thought that you needed fixing, but , thats the point i was trying to make when I asked you to study Paul as a seperate and set aside subject, because you're going to run into authoritative mixed-up "Christians". And I see that my point of view is desperately needed here on Ask :). To bring balance to the conversation ! Sorry so long, I had a bunch to say, I love you in Christ Shay, we're One in Him! Bye!

Shay, God is so good! I was in my Bible study an hour ago, and I read a little further than the verse we were working on, and found this verse the Paul wrote to Timothy, who would be the one to take on the mantle of the furthering of the gospel of the dispensation of the Grace of God, after Paul is put to death. 2Timothy 4:5 " But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry." Shay, ASK is in the realm of our influence. It is a place where we can encouraging one another, and exhort each other thru preaching and teaching, and you have a ministry here, that can prepare you for face-to-face divine encounters, that may or may not go the way you think :). So buck up young warrior/lovechild!

Here's one idea I thought of...you go to all the outdoor music festivals that you can. You dress like a hippie, I'm thinking flowy dress with a crown of flowers on your head, perhaps barefoot, maybe you're carrying some flowers, and as you walk thru the crowd, youre smiling peacefully, calmly, you speak with people as you pass and you tell them your name and that you're walking with God, or some such unexpected, truthful thing you can say, and either a conversation starts or you hand them one of your flowers, leave in peace, and move along through the crowd waiting for the Holy Spirit's guiding...I can see it! I think you would be in your comfort zone, and the music, and your gifts would just flow! How does it sound so far...I was born in 1959, so I was 8,9,10 during those hippie days. Me and my mom shopped downtown, we drove by Piedmont Park, where the hippies gathered for music festivals. I don't have my notes here, but if you Google Jesuits, you can find out what I'm talking about...and the thing in Cyprus is interesting too, because Germany wants Cyprus, and so does Russia. Hi Shay! The thing is that the Jesuits were a crusading military bunch, appointed to fend off Protestantism, and then re-Catholicize . I'm just learning about this..I already knew the bit I just told you, but today.I found a question here on ask about what is a Protestant? and that got me to thinking about the Jesuit thing, and how they were anti-protestant ...and we all know that Protestantism is considered the opposite of Carholicism. Because the movement began when a German monk, Martin Luther, nailed his list of complaints against the Catholic Church on the Pope's door. Called " the Edict of Worms" :). It specified things like The Papacy, and the church practice of the selling of indulgences, and the church high life. The spark that inspired him was the verse in Hebrews 10:38 "Now the just shall live by faith". Faith and...baptism? Faith and tongues? Faith and repentance? Faith and confession? No, Faith and...nothing else. Period. He was just a man, but God inspired him to think outside the rituals and traditions of the Catholic Church, and when he boldly proclaimed what God had inspired, the Church didn't like it, and put him to death. But the movement had spread there in Germany , and I don't have my notes, but we can than Luther for starting the Reformation movement, where faith and faith alone are all that's required for salvation....
Report as
I mean Paul writes what the Holy Spirit inspired him to write, and the Romans and his early churches understood what he wrote, but the Catholic Church came along in like 300AD (I think), and so that message got lost in baptisms, confessions, pentence, and popes. And the Reformation movement was the result of the uncovering of things long buried. And the new pope took his name from Francis (of Assisi), who was a Jesuit. Also, Jesuits are the most orthodox-ish of all the Catholics in their belief that the pope is "Jesus Christ on earth". (Which to me, is hieracy, and very much anti-Christ-ish). So, we have a Jesuit pope, a Jesuit EU pres., a Jesuit Italian prime minister , Monti, I think is his name, a Jesuit head of the EU Bank...who all believe in squashing out Protestanism, and that the pope is "Jesus Christ on earth". And I've heard that pope Francis reached out to the Muslim Brotherhood in his Easter speech! I'll double check that tho. Shay, have you noticed that it doesn't get clearer and clearer, I've also been studying the woman who rides on the 7headed red beast. You said before, the 7 hills, do you know what the seven are? They are the amount of times that the Holy Roman Empire will rise up in power. Did you know that it has already risen up 6 times? Here they are: 1. Justinian 554AD, 2. Frankish (Charlemagne), 3. Otto, 4. Charles the 5th, 5. Napoleon 1804, 6. Hitler. And that leaves a 7th "head" ready to burst onto the scene. That's enough for now, I'd like to come back next with a Bible lesson about Paul's books, hope it's ok!

Shay, I would like to take an opportunity to put some "good stuff" in your head, to balance out all the "bad stuff" that tries to come in. I am particularly interested in catching you up on some things about Paul's books that we have not discussed. Of course, I have an excellent teacher, and I am typing out notes from class. Shay, I think you know that all Scripture unfolds in a progressive revelation. And especially in the letters that Paul wrote. He wrote about mysteries that even Jesus had not revealed. How that God would temporarily set aside his Program of salvation thru adherence to the Law with the Jewish people , and bring in a new dispensation of God's gift of Grace to the Gentiles. When scholars meticulously combed thru Paul's letters, they recognized and discovered a format or pattern in which the collection unfolds. Of course, we know that the divine outline was designed by The Holy Spirit, and it's entirely possible that Paul never even noticed it. (I hope you'll find this so cool!). Lets begin by looking at 2Timothy 3:16 " All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine (that is, good teaching), for reproof (in other words, when things have to be straightened out), and for correction (or when someone gets off course). V.17 That a man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." So here is the format or the outline of the collective letters of Paul: first, doctrine; second, reproof; third, correction; fourth instruction for righteousness. To be continued

Oh Shay! I mangled the scripture! Let me just type it out again with no notes to get it right :). 2Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." Okay, now lets get to the point I'm trying to make :). Paul's letter to the Romans is a book of doctrine , that is good teaching. his 2 letters to the Corinthians is a book of reproof, the early believers were suffering problems within the churches, and his letter to the Galatians is a book of correction, they needed correction because they were slipping into legalism. Shay,Paul began his ministry around 40AD, after he spent 3 years in Sinai, with the risen Lord Jesus. He preached in Rome, Corinth, and Galatia. During this time, he always visited the synagogues first, and they listened a bit, but eventually rejected his message, and they began to try and kill him. He warned them then that he was going to go instead to the Gentiles...His travelling mission lasted about 25 years I think, and during that time he still visited Synagogues but only the Gentiles came to faith, they formed churches based on the New dispensation of God's Gift of Grace to all who would believe. To be continued...
Report as
Throughout this time Paul is constantly referring to the Old Testament, and the Patriarchs, and basically "come out of Law and into the light of Grace". Then, in Acts 28:17, Paul has been arrested in Jerusalem, and he tries one more time to persuade the Jewish leaders that they are on the verge of losing their identity as a favored people, now verse 25(when the Jewish could not agree, they left, and Paul said,'Isaiah was right when he spoke thru the Holy Spirit and said, "Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; seeing ye shall see, and not perceive" '. And then in verse 28."Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and they will hear it." So then, Paul is hauled off to Rome. He's placed under house arrest, having protected Roman citizen rights. He starts writing letters again. The letters never say another word about The Jews or the Old now God is inspiring him to write about how God is her forth bringing both Jew and Gentile to salvation thru faith and faith alone in the work of the Cross. And to worship the One who was Resurrected. We're to worship the One who is at the right hand of the Father, listening to, and working out our prayers with the Father. To be continued...
Report as
And it's going to sound harsh Shay, but this way of believing means we can no longer say,' I go by what Jesus said', because then you have to say,' well, I touched a dead thing and now I have to go take a blood sacrifice to the alter of the Temple'. And we have to get out of the 4gospels to find our doctrine, because 90% of it is Jewish. We don't throw it away!! God forbid, All scripture is unfolding, and progressive revelation!!! Now the prison letters, they follow the same outline, only on steroids: Ephesians, a higher level of doctrine; Philippians, a deeper level of reproof; and Colossians, a higher level of correction..
Report as
Shay, please do not let this overwhelm you, Im all out of notes, so no more typing today! I just want you to understand the historical context, and to draw out the Awesome ORDER that Gods explains things to us!!! And Shay, the amazing thing is that Paul did not write the letters in the exact order in time! Gods Word is foolproof! Love you, bye!

Shay, now we're going to go thru a chapter of Ephesians, Paul's letter of deeper doctrine, and we will study the verses with our knowledge of the divine outline insPired by the Holy Spirit. In Romans, the letter covering basic doctrine, Paul writes that we all came out of sin, and are all capable of going to the very depths of sin but, then he offers the Gospel of Grace, and how Christ has already died for us, and He has already paid the sin ransom, and He has already forgiven us, and we appropriate it by faith alone. That's the book of Romans in a nut shell. And then you'll remember that the 2 letters to Corinth were reproof for problems in the early church, and Galatians was a letter of correction because they newbies were slipping into legalism. But we'll find none of that stuff in Ephesians! This letter is about the deeper doctrine that Paul wrote, inspired by the Holy Spirit who was progressively revealing God's truth in His word to us. This letter contains over 90 prepositional phrases in only 6 short chapters. Such as: "In Christ", "In Him", and "in the Body". And in this letter, he is constantly hammering home the position of the Believer! To be continued...

Ephesians 1:1"Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus." (Paul describes himself saying that he did not volunteer to be an apostle of Jesus Christ, but "by the will of God", and we understand hes talking about his backstory of persecuting Jesus' believing Jews. then we notice that Paul writes only to the believers who are "faithful in Christ Jesus". Now on to) V.3 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:" ( Thats His new title: "our Lord Jesus Christ". "...who hath..." (That's a past-tense verb for "has already".) Who has already "blessed us with all spiritual blessings" (not a BMW, or a 7bedroom house, or Promised Land, or an everlasting Kingdom on earth, but) " blessings in the heavenly places" (Here's where Christians get our root belief of heaven, and the idea that we're strangers in a strange place here on earth, heavenly people earthbound and homesick for their heavenly home. And the concept of heavenly, eternal blessings that do not rust, or wither away like chaff. And that Theyer being stored up for us in heaven. :) ..."In Christ." ( prepositional phrase, that's our position as a believer). To be continued...

Shay, I want to point out this one single thought running thru both our books of doctrine now. Romans said: He has already finished the Work of the Cross, He has already forgiven us, and now we're see ing in Ephesians that He has already blessed us with spiritual, everlasting treasures, they are already waiting for us in heaven, and because we've got to go to heaven to have them, He has already positioned us "in heavenly places, in Christ." More later, love!
Report as
Shay, so let us cement into our minds that as believers, we are positioned "in the heavenlies", because of our position "in Christ". How did we get "in Christ"? We turn back one of Paul's letter about basic, elementary school reproof to the Corinthians, who needed strengthening for their weakening faith. 1 Corinthians 12:12 " For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all are members of that one body, being many, are one body: so is Christ."V.13" For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jew or Gentiles," (whether we be rich or poor, black or white, yellow or green)" and have all been made to drink unto one Spirit." V.27" Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular." Shay, we're positionally in the body of Christ, and that puts us positionally, "in Christ". Now to Ephesians 1:4" According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should holy and without blame before him in love." (Christ already chose us "in Him" before He created the world. That is beyond human understanding, but lets try: imagine a door, there is a sign that says "whosoever shall believe may come", and you enter the door and once you're inside, you turn and look back at the door ,and see another sign that says "chosen from the foundation of the world". Yes, you exercised your free will when you responded to the gospel, but just as soon as you came to faith,God could honestly say that he chose you! That's it for today, I'm all filled up! Love you bunches!

Thank you Shay, that last bit you said tells me everything I need to know :) shall we move along then ? Barack to Eph. 1:4" According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him ..." ( It reads better if we stop here. God the Father has already chosen us before the world was created, "that we should be holy and without blame before him" ( I looked up that word holy in the Greek, it means "sacred, pure, blameless, and consecrated". Blameless? And without blame before him? Wow! And everyone of us are sinners, saved by grace, but with the same old sin nature inside of us, and we all still sin...?!?!? And then Paul has the audacity to say we are blameless!!! Huh? Lets go back to 1 Corinthians. The Corinthians were carnal, they were not yet spiritually minded, yes they had been saved out of abject paganism and all the attended immorality, but they were no where near understanding Ephesians, they had not come that far yet to understand their position in the heavenlies, even Paul had not yet been inspired to write Ephesians yet, but what CAN he tell them? " chapter 1, verse 6." Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: v.7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our lord Jesus Christ. v.8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our lord Jesus Christ." ( so here you are Corinthians, waiting on the Rapture, when our lord Jesus Christ will confirm, even you spiritual babes, your reservation in heaven will be confirmed. Now a lot of people don't like this but when it says He has already forgiven us, that means all of our past, present, and future sins have already been forgiven. And even these carnal believers, if the day of our lord Jesus Christ came, they didn't have to go shaking in their boots before the great white judgement for unconfessed sin, because they were already under the Blood. And that's God's grace, but a true child of God will not test God's Grace to see how far down he can go, but ...if...we...do, and The Lord should come...we would go before him blameless. And you'll see this throughout Paul's writings, that we have already been cleansed...
Report as
And we have already been forgiven, and are already justified from all things by virtue of our faith in the finished Work of the Cross. Now we'll go back to Ephesians 1:4 (we're already chosen in him, which makes us holy and w/o blame before him...lets talk about that word "holy". Remember the Temple utensils and how they were holy? Like the little shovel used to pick up the ashes from the offerings, the Priest couldn't say 'well, I'm going to take the little shovel home and clean out my fireplace', because those instruments were set aside for God's use.). Ephesians 1:4 (we're already chosen in him, set aside for God's uses, and" blameless before him." (how can that be? Because of what Christ has done on our behalf. Not because we deserve it, but because of his matchless grace!). Now the last two words are "in love." V.5 "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will," ( Paul talks about adoption with the Galatians too. Back in his day, adoption did not mean to legally make someone else's child your own, but rather, the Greek and Roman society recognized adoption as when a father, to train his young son of 14,15,16 the attributes of his particular business, that child was dedicated to be tutored and trained to go into his father's business, to be concerned with taking care of his father's business, and when he was ready, the child could come up alongside of his father, and have the same full responsibility and bed edits as his father, that was their right in Greek and Roman culture. So when we put that info into our position as believers...he has already adopted us. We didn't have to go thru a whole period of preparation, but immediately, the moment we're saved, where does God position us? As the tutored child, by His grace, thru our faith in Christ, with the Father, in the heavenlies)...

Now to Romans 8:17-18 to bring the point home :) " And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint- heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified together. for I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." (Glory revealed in angels? Nope. Glory revealed in us! Ephesians 1:5 (He has already chosen us, predestinated us, and adopted us, and set us aside for His uses)" according to the good pleasure of his will." (Whose will? God's will. Remember what Paul said back in verse one? How he became an apostle-not by his will-but "by the will of God" ? So how did we become a child of God? And a joint-heir with Christ? And and positioned in the heavenlies? By His will. And again, that doesn't take away our free will choice, but he made the first move he wooed us. This next verse is appropriate in the light of Ephesians, Paul is preaching up in Philippi, northern Greece). Acts 16:14" And there was a certain woman named Lydia...which worshipped God, who heard us; who heart The Lord opened, and she attended unto the things which were spoken of by Paul." (She was a religious lady, but needed her heart opened, so she was still lost...but when she hears Paul preach Grace, God opens her understanding...what did she do? She listened and attended to the things Paul preached. Another hokey example is kids at recess, some play monkey bars, some swing, some run to the baseball diamond to get in a quick game. The call goes out, ' we're getting a game together! Everybody c'mon!' All the kid heard the call, but only some ran over, and then captains and teams are chosen. So God said.' C'mon Lydia! She heard, came running over, and was chosen by God. Yes, we have a choice, but on the other hand we're chosen by God...

Shay, He has already placed us positionally as heirs on equal standing as Jesus Christ. That's what joint-heirs means!!!! And it's hard to get our minds around it, but when our Lord Jesus said, "It is finished." He was talking about all this stuff we're learning in our doctrine books here! ( all the "alreadys ) He has already paid the sin ransom,He has already forgiven us,He has already pre-set our destination in the heavenlies, He has already made us joint- heirs,He has already laid up spiritual blessings in heaven, so, the moment God saw faith inside our hearts, He gave us all these wonderful things in that very second...One more verse 6. " To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved." ( Shay, there 's a little something to grab your interest, praising the glory of his grace! Next word , "wherein" . in where? "in His Grace"! prepositional phrase alert! " In His Grace "He hath made us accepted into "the beloved."...sooo sweet! Shay, I'll bet you think of your children as beloved. And your husband too. And of course our Lord Jesus Christ as dearly beloved, right? So you can very well understand what God is communicating to us here when He inspired Paul to write that He has already made us accepted... prepositional phrase ahead...in the beloved. Positionally, we're in the beloved, too! That's it for now! I hope you'll hang in for a few more verses tomorrow, love you dear Shay!

That is how my spirit is right now, leaping for joy, praising & thanking Him. My God who has seen me as worthy, worthy enough to cover me by Christs blood, worthy enough to call me, worthy enough to save me, to call me righteous, to have his choice of people yet I am one. I am so filled with joy right now, I am bubbling over with love, love that God first loved me. You are an amazing teacher Beth. Thankyou. xxx

Hi Shay, you just sang the best kind of song there is! I think that you will have a very important job in heaven, perhaps you and David will spend some time writing Psalms and praise songs together :). When I read your words I try to imagine putting them to music like David did. You two have the same gift that you get excited when you think of God, and you'll just burst if you don't sing a song about it! God sees you Shay, and He has in store wonderful things for you in eternity! I'm so excited for us!!! I have 2 things for us to talk about now:), and I'd like to start with exploring that word "glory". I've got myself a dictionary app now, and I like to use a standard dictionary because Im not too sure about the Bible ones being totally "neutral", I hope you know what I mean. So, wow, there is 14 definitions! We are talking about a very complex word here! Lets go thru the list, and when were done, we should think about the multi-faceted meanings and fullness that is "glory'! 1. Very great praise, honor, distinction bestowed. 2. Something that is a source of honor, fame, or admiration, an object of pride. 3. Adoring praise or worshipful thanksgiving. 4. Resplendent beauty, or magnificence. 5. A state of great splendor, magnificence, or prosperity. 6. A state of absolute happiness, gratification, contentment, etc. 7. The splendor and bliss of heaven; or heaven. 8. A ring, circle, or surrounding radiance of light represented about the head or the whole figure, of a sacred person, as Christ or a saint, a halo, nimbus. 9&10. To exalt with triumph, rejoice proudly. 11. To boast. 12. glory be to God ( used to express surprise, elation, wonder, etc.). 13. Glory days ( the time of greatest achievement, success ). 14. Go to glory (to die :).

Wow Shay! I looked up in the big Strong's Concordance , and counted 84 times Paul uses the word "glory" while writing his letters! and that doesn't include "glorious, or glorying"! So lets go ahead and just revel in the multi-folded, complexity of what "glory" really is!!! We will be bumping into glory again , but Now we're going in to Colossians before returning to Ephesians. Remember Colossians is a letter of deep correction. It seem that the early believers there were getting into things like Gnosticism, and were trying to enter into the realms of Angelic beings, and the letter was to correct them and bring them back to the Gospel of Grace. Colossians 3:1" If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. v.2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. v.3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory." (Wow. There is so much here!! To be continued...

"...Your life is hid with Christ in God." Lets imagine a walnut. We have 2 black walnut trees in our yard. The nuts fall all over the ground and they are as big as pong pong balls! They have a really thick, really hard outer shell. (That's the "in God" part). After you crack that open , you have another shell, crack that open...now you have all the crevices (Those are Christ), and buried down inside you have your meats (Thats us!). It takes little instruments to dig out the meats that are very well protected! And we have another really long prepositional phrase to add to our ever-expanding list of descriptions of our position as believers, our position is "hid in Christ in God". You know? That's not a bad idea, perhaps we could write these positional phrases out as one big long list, and pull It out anytime we desire. We'll think about it later... What's else is here? V.1" If ye then be risen with Christ..." (If you've placed your faith in the finished work of the Cross, you've killed the old man, and you've put on the new man, you have experienced a resurrection, and if you've gone thru that, then...) "Seek those things above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God." (Shay, remember those spiritual blessings in the heavenlies? And we're to think of our Lord Jesus in the throneroom of heaven.). 2, "Set your affection on things above, not on things of the earth. (Jesus is no longer on earth. But He talked about "things" too. Matthew 6:33" But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things should be added unto you." Jesus was okay with things, He just warned to make sure our Spiritual priorities were in proper order. And if God sees fit to give material blessings in His Grace towards us...so be it! V.3" For ye are dead" ( Old Adam is dead, and the old life we had "is hid in Christ in God.". We are "in Christ", and "in God" and nothing can touch us that glorious and secure position! That's it for now dear Shay! Love you "in Christ in God"!!!!

With Christ! With Christ! Sorry, I messed up there 2 times, please forgive me, it's important to get it right. "With Christ". And "in God". Shay, don't let it get confused we've been made joint-heirs with Christ, and we're "hid with Christ". What an honor God bestows on us! V.4 "When Christ...shall appear, then shall ye also appear "with Him" in glory." (Not in the Kingdom, not in the Promised Land, not in Jerusalem..in.glory! That's in the heavenlies!) Only Paul writes about the Rapture...you should probably get used to reading about the "appearance of Christ". Paul never writes about Armageddon, this is not the 2nd Coming where Christ will defeat the enemies of Israel and bring in the Kingdom. I am going to study the next lesson and will come back with that later, Shay, my mother always gave me the perfect presents! I was so spoiled because she care about it being just right, and I could fill a book with her awesomeness in this amazing talent she possessed! And i just always really enjoyed whatever was inside the beautiful boxes! And I've really missed that, but my husband gives me cash, and that really is the next best thing...but my point! Is that you are a present from God especially chosen for me, to me...and I just want to see you blossom and grow in these good words that God inspired Paul to write. Yes, I'm telling you what to think about the words, but when we're done, you'll put your own special Shay-way of looking at it, and hopefully teach it to someone else, better! See you again soon, bye!

Hi Shay! I just got home and found your note about you teaching Paul to another believer, and that just thrills me dear friend!!! When you study it line by line, it takes a lot longer, but we can find little treasures that way, and that can be so rewarding! I like coming back to this question because it starts with "Think deeply..." And that's what we're doing here Shay! Love you bunches!

Hi Shay, I've got some more notes on verse 6 to type, but first may I put in a few teacher comments to think about? As we're moving slowly along we have been collecting details of what it really means to be "in Christ". And all the things we're looking at, and all this repetition, is primarily directed to the understanding of the believer's position. You will not find this intense emphasis anywhere else in your Bible. And this position has nothing to do with the 6senses, i don't feel like I'm in heaven, but I know that I am because The Word says I am. And this is where every believer has to come, that what the Bible says is true, and that we take it by faith. We may not feel it, but on the basis of God's word , that's our position, in the heavenlies, and we are part and parcel of everything God had been building since back in Genesis. He has already predestinated into the position, already adopted and tutored, ready to take up our Father's business, here's a neat translation from the Amplified Eph.1:6 again. " [So that we might be] to the praise and the commendation of His glorious grace---favor and mercy---which He so freely bestows on us in the Beloved." (Prepositional phrase:"in the Beloved", we're in the Beloved because we're " in Christ"). More soon, bye!

He so freely bestowed on us His glorious grace...( and from the way this is framed, where favor and mercy are singled out between dashes...)by using His favor and His mercy...I'm thinking something like... His grace contains favor and mercy, and He worked using those things, or...it is saying grace, favor, and mercy all together...hmm. Well anyway, the last part of the verse, "has made us accept-able to be placed positionally,um prepositional phrase ahead "in the Beloved." Capitalized here! What is the beloved or Beloved anyway?

Hi Beth, thanx so much for the teachings & I have read over them but not studied them yet. I'm always reading them when there's distractions around, so I'm afraid I'm not getting the full knowledge I could be. Tomorrow I have 2 days off & I'm going to sit in my room in silence & prayer & recap. :-)
I'd love it even more if we could bible study via email. I just know it would be more beneficial, one thing at a time not all at once.

Shay, thank you for trusting me, and I can do that ! I would like to suggest that you just read thru what we've talked about once more, and then set that aside, and then read those 6 verses thru in your Bible w/ pen and paper ready to write your own notes. And of course, everybody is different, but I believe the Holy Spirit will Remind you, and Speak to you, and then you'll think of those things every time you come across those verses again. Perhaps you'll come away with something we missed, and tell me , so we'll both be encouraged!! Our Vice President gave a speech Friday after a meeting with International Banking people, and said twice they are bringing about a new world order. He's a joker and makes a lot of gaffes, but sometimes they send him out to say something to see what the press will say, and how us citizens will react. And only the Christian shows, blogs, websites are talking about it. Not a word from the big 3 networks or cable news. The new world order is code for world governance. I think we both know where that can lead...talk later, bye!

To procreate.

Seems kind of blunt, but it's true. Insects that live only a few short hours spend those few short hours desperately trying to mate. Humans have decades instead of hours, but they still spend vast resources attempting to do so. The beautiful sounds of crickets and birds and all manner of wild animals hooting and hollering--yeah, that's just billions of creatures attempting to procreate.
