think about it. if any person ever does anything, it is because they think it will make them happy. whether it is helping a homeless man, being with the one you love, or suicide, it is directly or indirectly because they think it will make them happy. the same goes for all creatures in the world. so go be happy.
The simplest answer to this question, is that the meaning of life, our whole purpose for being here, is to love, and be loved. We were created solely out of love by our creator, who continues to love us in this world. Most people being honest will say that their greatest goal in their life is to find true love, and finally, as the creator created us only out of love for us, then is it not appropriate that we should reciprocate that love?
Love, the choice to do what is best for another, and put them first even at a cost to yourself, is the truest, and most pure reason we live, it is in fact the very meaning of life.
Philippians 3: 7 "...whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead."

Seems kind of blunt, but it's true. Insects that live only a few short hours spend those few short hours desperately trying to mate. Humans have decades instead of hours, but they still spend vast resources attempting to do so. The beautiful sounds of crickets and birds and all manner of wild animals hooting and hollering--yeah, that's just billions of creatures attempting to procreate.
