I got taken away from my mom when I was 15, and they placed me with my dad. I'm now 17, would I be able to live with my mom legally?

I want to move back in with her for my senior year.

It depends on the Family Code of the State you live in. In Texas, you can choose which parent you want to live with at the age of 14, but it must be approved by the Court. If there is an objection to the change, the person objecting must give the judge convincing evidence of why it should not be allowed. However, if both your parents are in agreement with the change, the judge will approve the agreement. Since you are under a court order to live with your Dad, the court that issued that order has jurisdiction over you and your parents until you reach the age of 18. Any changes before that must be approved or ordered by the Court. Child support payments by your father to your mother would become an issue. This could get complicated and by the time it gets through the court, you will probably be 18 and graduating from high school. Unless there are serious problems with your Dad, my advice is to leave things as they are. You can build a relationship with your mom after you finish high school.

Depends why you were taken away! I think the legal age for emancipation is 16.

I would think in most states you should be able to choose who you want to live with...as long as your mother isn't unfit(no offense) I would think you can live with her.

They took you away for a reason. If she was found unfit to take care of you then the courts wont let you go back there now.

yes, you would have to go before a judge.. Unless your mom did someone really unlawful and that is why you where taken away in the first place.
