What do I do if my Galaxy s3 fell, and stayed in water for one night.

I was chilling at the river behind my house, and I realized my phone was missing. So I go back and try searching for it.. No luck. My cousin was with me so I ask him to call the phone. He does. Nothing happens. He tries again, and this time, we notice, in the water, that there is a light. We were confused at first, but then realize it was my phone... I was shocked and immediately reach in to get it. (not a good swimmer) but as I was reaching, the phone stops flashing.. And I couldn't reach to the bottom.. it was at least 3-5 feet deep, and im only five feet, anyways, I had to wait till the morning to get it. And I did, the L.E.D light works when i try turning it on and when it is charging, and the speaker makes a fuzzy noise. But the screen doesn't work. So do you think it will work? And another thing, if it doesnt work right now, can i just send it in to fix?

First of all, when a device gets wet the WORST THING YOU CAN DO is to turn it on. Why? The water itself won't damage the components, but the water will cause a short which WILL fry the phone.

So you need to immediately turn it off. Take it as far apart as you can... back off, battery out. Put it in a ziplock bag full of uncooked, dry rice and leave it there. Check the rice in a few hours to see if you need to change it because it's gotten soft.

Honestly, kid, you'll probably have to get a new phone. I hope you included water damage on your phone's insurance, because water damage is NOT covered otherwise.

Best answer yet. Thank you! And ya I might just order a new one. My phone was unlocked, so I might just do the same again. Cheaper.

Put it in the freezer and use it as a big ice cube, because if it was soaking overnight that's about all it's good for now.

Put it in a bag of rice, and that should soak up the moisture.

The fuzzy noise was the electronics frying! There's no hope for it! You can try all the rice in the world, you need a new phone!
