Does money bring happiness

Report as

Well if you are unhappy because you don't have money it will, but generally it will make life much easier, but if you are unhappy about other things, it will not solve that problem, but at least you'll be able to afford some very good therapy... )

If it's spent on and invested in things to better yourself and better the world then yes.

I think money gives relief to everyone, but happiness, To some it does, to some it does for a while, and others see it just as that..money. And realize that happiness comes from inside ones self ;)

It depends on what makes you happy. But, generally no. Money can buy you out of a lot of grief though.

They did some tests. The results show that increasing wealth does not increase happiness (but also that people under the poverty line are significantly LESS happy.)

Mostly, yes. Or at least, for me.
Money buys the things that are for sale, and to the extent that those are the things that make you happy, it will buy happiness.

It does not last

It does not have to last forever, just a lifetime. And I am Plenty old enough to tell you that it lasts long enough.

No, it just makes life easier . Studies have shown that most people think that their life would be better if they had just a little more.

Being able to pay the bills and not worry about creditors calling makes me pretty happy. Living in a house instead of under a highway overpass makes me pretty happy. Driving a car instead of taking the bus makes me pretty happy. In conclusion ... YES!

Thats debatable, I've experienced life with and without. Money can bring a degree of security but I have also experienced some of the worst times when I had money. Mainly it is with those people that you thought of as friends. A while back I came into some money and it seemed to have affected most of my friends in what I saw as a negative way. It's nice to have but it can be a source of misery.

The age old Money can't buy happiness, great line, made up by either a poor man who hasn't the faintest idea, or a wealthy one patting you on the back leaving behind a kick me sign.It absolutely helps in achieving happiness quicker, and it is certainly beneficial in allowing one to enjoy the finer things in life. Would you prefer to be buried in debt, or burden by the difficult decision of where to sail first this year. Yost Van Dyke offers great anchorage.

I guess it might be different for those individuals that are born into money as opposed to those who have it thrust upon them after living without for so long.

This question comes up from time to time but was well-answered in an Abbott and Costello skit from away back.

Costello: I wish I was rich.
Abbott: Money can't buy love. Money can't buy health. Money can't buy happiness.
Costello: You give me the money and I'll do my own shopping

Five or six months ago it was answered on Ask (probably by American Empire) who said, "Being rich may not guarantee happiness, but being broke sucks."

When I got to the point that money was no longer an issue, I am certain that it had no happiness effect . . . It did, however, make life one heckuvalot more peaceful . . .

Buying Abbott and Costello DVDs makes me pretty happy! Haha :-)

@Mello: One of my kids once asked why I didn't work overtime any more and I explained that the system has been rigged so that, by the time you can get it, you no longer need it.

@Tony: I don't know that I'd be keen enough to buy one of their DVD's but they certainly had some classics -- and they'll be remembered forever for their Who's On First baseball skit. There's a lot of their stuff available for download on YouTube.

Technically the cliché is "money doesn't buy happiness," but in reality it can buy you things that make you happy :)

Wisdom is for a protection the same as money is for a protection, but the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom itself preserves alive its owners. Wise King Solomon's quote from Ecclesiastes 7:12.

Too much money makes a person want more and unsatisfied with life. Yet, having money at all, you should be thankful. :)
