What are some good exercises if you have arthritis in your knees?

Report as

It depends how painful the arthritis is. Swimming is good for any level of discomfort. Walking is good but you might need a little determination. I wouldn't recommend jogging or weights -- they put too much stress on the knees and you're likely to make matters worse.

Running, squatting , jumping, and stretching all help deal with anthritis on your knees. The key to deal with anthritis is movement and being active...Also staying away from the cold helps

Swimming is the best as it doesn't put any pressure on the joint, yet exercises and stretches at the same time. Riding a bike also a good one as it strengthens the muscles supporting the knee joint without jarring.

Try a stationary exercise bike if you can. It is low impact and still promotes some blood flow to your knees. Otherwise regular bicycling is also good, just go easy when accelerating from a stop.

Ride a bike!! My mother suffers from arthritis but it really helps her to ride her bike and walk, or even squat down and rub your knees to get the blood flowing.

I have arthritis in my knees.
Every day I stretch
5 min. in the morning; before and after exexcerciseand 5 min. at night
Get as much excercise in: I started with just 45 min. of Just Dance
The most comfortable for me is x-biking (like riding a bike in a gym). It doesn't hurt nearly was much as jogging does, and I get to burn calories a lot quicker.

Sit on a chair or something high enough to swing your legs forward and back, off the ground, moving the knees without weight on them. Avoid exercises that cause pain because the pain is telling you that you are hurting the joint. For fitness, swimming & arm and body exercises would be good. Also, don't be overweight.

This may sound funny, but flexing exercises work. When Bruce Lee became a star, he spent lots of time in meetings and he started a flex and release type style of exercise. Tip set an alarm on your phone with a snooze every 5 min, when it goes off, flex your Abs. You have 4 layers of Abs and the inner layer protects the spine. Flex Flex Flex. . . . Sitting, or laying down.
