Does all religions have the same god ?

for my opinion, i strongly believe that universe have only one creator, one set of laws. Many people understand it in different way and through the imagination of human, we change the form of it. At the end, there is only one.

Report as

All Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and any paths based on those) have the same God, but other than that there are literally a multitude of other religions, that have whole pantheons of Gods/Goddesses.

How is it that they have the same God? The God that sent his son to die for a reported "original sin" is not the same God that did not send such son.

@Want: Think of the God of Abraham as a man who is stepfather to two sons where one son represents Christianity and the other represents Islam. The first son will say his father behaved one way depending on the particulars of that situation, and then the other son who comes after will say that same man behaved in a way that was different than what the first son reported. The personalities of both sons shape their perceptions of what the man was like and the relationship he had with that man. Same man, but his actions are filtered through and interpreted by two different sons.

Your knowledge of truth is filtered through what you have been taught is God's truth. A Muslim's knowledge is filtered through what he or she has bee taught is God's truth. The question aside of whether or not there is a God, it is humans who are interpreting what the truth is regarding that same deistic concept.
Report as
@Want2Kno - While they all believe in YHWH, where the difference is (among other things), is that Christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah, and the Son of God - Jews and Muslims don't share that view.

So at the beginning, why people know about Gods and worship them ? Who tell us ? And who are they, why they created the universe ? and who created them ?
Report as
I major in Psychology, not religion or philosophy. That's a question you'll have to answer on your own. The most logical explanation, though, in my opinion is that early humans created myths and beliefs centered around Gods to explain what they couldn't explain.
Report as
Let me take a stab at this, Peruvian> All gods and goddesses are man-made. Humans have a biologic drive to explain the world around them. Anything they could not understand, they attributed to some invisible force. Such belief provided order to their lives. But as you can see throughout the history of the human race, more and more of what used to be explained by the supernatural is being explained as natural phenomenon. For instance, sickness is often caused by microscopic lifeforms rather than evil spirits. The sun is the center of the solar system rather than the Earth being the center of the universe.

Allah IS NOT OUR CHRISTIAN GOD!
ask your pastor to show you the koran
And find that says that they believe
That Jesus did not die, but was carried to heaven/that someone else
Died in his place! That would have meant that Jesus did not conquor death and the grave and hell!
You had better find a Bible believing church( your guy must be one of those that Revelation speaks of--- false teachers) wake up!! Before its too late!
Report as
"Allah" is just Arabic for "god". You and your pastors couldn't have researched at all- Islam worships the Abrahamic god just like Jews and Christians do. They simply believe their spiritual tradition comes through Ishmael not Isaac, and that Jesus was just a prophet.

Allah is the Arabic word for God, he is in fact the exact same God that the Christians worship. Yes they have different beliefs, as they have interpreted things differently, however they all share the same God (Abraham's God).

Most Arabic Christians call there god, Allah, so yes they worship the same god. They just have a different view of him. Same as Christians have a different view of god then Jews do.

Is Jesus the son of God? Is he the messiah? not according to Islam and Judaism. Only Christianity teaches that Jesus is the messiah, and Judaism doesn't believe that, neither does Islam
Report as
Yes islam DOES teach that jesus is the messiah, however not the son of God. You know very little about them, I suggest you do some research before you make statements.
Report as
Oh and No jesus is not the messiah or the son of God, It's hard enough to prove he even existed, mush less to have been anything more then a person.
Report as
And "Jesus" is irrelevant anyway, since the discussion involved the actual central deity figure. All three Abrahamic faiths have the same god.

The anti-Muslim prejudice in America just makes many Christians scramble to distance themselves from what is essentially a religious sibling, offspring religion of the same parent (Judaism).

Well, there s only one God. But some of His most powerful creations turned against Him. And they pretendf to be gods. So all religions have the same god, the leader of all the creations that turned against the real God. But only christians have the same God. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. And some people say they have the three, but if they have more, or less, then they dont have God. And if they dont believe what He teaches, they dont have Him. Gby.

Islam does Not have the same God! If they did they would KNOW that Jesus IS Gods son.
Islam only believes Jesus was a good teacher and prophet!
You see, Satan wants so much to be God, that he will be as close LIKE God as he can be! So when you read the Koran... It looks "similar!! " They even think that Jesus didnt really die/ that someone else died in His place.(
If that were so,then That would Not have been the perfect sacrifice that God needed for the payment of all our sins!---that WAS WHY JESUS died /and rose again , conquoring death, the grave and hell).ALL FOR US!
Dont be fooled! Muhammed lies in his grave in Medina( not Mecca)!
So he never arose!
There is only ONE TRUE GOD . And Jesus is His one and only Son who lives in Heaven!
Allah was one of 365 gods during the days before Muhammed had his revelation . One for each day of the year.
When the people asked him what Gods name was, he didnt know---but since it was the day to worship the god allah----- then THAT
Was the god Muhammed choose!

Isnt that story a lot like when Moses asked God what His name was??
And God Said:"i AM THAT I AM".
(Meaning that He always was, always
Is, and always will be!)
Plus He is your EVERYTHING: your
Provider, protector, your shield in battle, your defender, your shelter,
Your rock, the most High, everlasting to everlasting, alpha and omega, the beginning and the end! Etc etc!

I am truly curious about this, I'm not trying to insult you. What do atheists believe? Do you believe that the people in the bible were real, and just lying, or that it is completely fake?
Report as
Atheists have nothing in common except lack of belief in gods. It will vary by atheist.

A thorough study of history shows that there is no evidence for any of the major stories of the bible and in many cases evidence against.

Noah didn't exist- the Noahide flood myth is both scientifically impossible and a copy of the older story of Unapishtim from the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh. Ditto Adam and Eve.

Similarly, Moses never existed and Exodus never happened. Not only is the Moses story patterned on a third millennium BCE Sumerian king, but the Israelite people were never in Egypt. They have a Canaanite origin. The Exodus tale was invented circa 800BCE to unite the Israelite tribes in their then-current territory battles against Egypt.

There is limited space here to discuss all the historical problems with the bible tales, but basically none of the ones central to the religion (and in fact few at all) have any sort of historical support. You also present a false dichotomy between "lying" or "fake". Like most religions, the stories of the bible might have a basis in minor historical events or the mythologies of older cultures, then get embellished and their own cultural spin put on them. But the stories of the bible have far too much correlation to older myths if the region and far too little historical and archaeological support to take as literal.

However, Christians speak about God in ways that make their faith completely unique. The Bible speaks of God as Father, creator of all things. It also speaks of Jesus Christ, the historical figure who lived about two thousand years ago, as God. And it speaks of God as Spirit, active in humans and in the world ? the Holy Spirit (known in past centuries as the Holy Ghost). When seen in this complete way, it is clear that not all religions worship that God...

The three monotheistic religions that we know from God are Islam, Christianity and Judaism.
All these three religions, have one message which is the belief in God.
But they differs who this God is!!!
For example, Christian believe Jesus is God!!!
Or they say that Jesus is the son of God or that God is trinity!!!
But in Islam, they believe that God:
He is the God, the One
The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks.
He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him.
God is above his skies, on his throne, divorced from his creation, not in his creations the same thing, and not in itself something of his creations.
I hope this help.

Both Judaism and Islam reject the concept of the tri-unity of God. They both adamantly deny that Jesus is God in the flesh and God's Son. So for those of us committed to the Biblical teaching that Jesus is God and Yahweh in the flesh, we find a major discrepancy between the three religions. It is well known that Judaism and Islam teach that God does not have a Son and so they reject the Biblical teaching (Isaiah 9:6; Psalm 2:7; Prov 30:4; John 1:1-3; Hebrews 1:1-3). (cont in comments)

Based on the descriptions of how God describes Himself in the Bible, we conclude that we certainly don't worship the same "God." The beauty of Christianity is not that "man became God", but instead that God became a human and lived among us (John 1:14). God came down in the person of Jesus to live like us, eat like us, hurt like us, and sorrow like us. Jesus understands the way human life is because He lived as a human. The next time you have pain or joy in your life, God understands because He too has lived with pain. That is why Jesus is so compassionate towards us, He understands! It's also the reason why the true God as revealed in the person of Jesus will accept no other worship. He is not Allah or any other name, but the God of the Bible has spoken saying that the only way to get to heaven is through repentance from our sins and trusting in the name of Jesus (Acts 4:12). Are you looking for the truth? If you look to Jesus, you have found it. He said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father, except through Me?"(John 14:6).http://www.ccc-nl.org/mn/nlp_07-0823_Do_all_Religions_Worship_the_Same_God.htm

Wouldn't believing that Jesus is god be clearly committing idolatry?
Report as
Although Jesus was certainly a true man-the perfect man who lived-He was also God., the second person of the truine God. If Jesus was just an ordinary man, then it is indeed completely wrong, even idolately, to worship Him. But, considering Jesus Christ's claims it is only perfectly fitting to bow down and worship Him as our God and Savior, Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13). In addition, accepting, and worshipping Him as Creator and redeemer, is, as He said, the one and only way to forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.
Report as
Good explanation !

So then Jesus is a god in Christianity?

The Abrahamic religions worship the same God. How do I know this? Because they all branched from Abraham, who had one God. Christians argue there is a trinity and Jesus is god, but Jews and Muslims worship 100% the same god just a different vision (which is why I have no idea why we fight so much). Other than that every religion has other gods.

Jews are not allowed to convert to Christianity, because the trinity is considered idolatry, but the god is the same.
