I'm trying to find an electric guitar that has the most versatility and maintains it's tuning for great amounts of time.

I am a musician and plan to gig with it I'm avoiding strats at all possible and rely on durability and versatility i play all genres of music so i wanna have some wide spread style handling

Your best bet is to go out and try every guitar you can get your hands on, that's the only way to find our, don't get me wrong, Gibson and fender are good guitars, but there are a million little golden eggs out there just waiting to be found. I would suggest either a low end PRS, Ibanez, ESP is good too

Gretsch's are generally good guitars, sometimes the action can be a bit high, but a few minor adjustments and you're good, an adjustment would only cost you about 40-50 bucks, and it usually stays pretty even for a while. If you don't mind it very much, you could get a guitar with a Floyd rose tremolo system, they always stay tuned and it's very secure feeling when you play. But answer to your question is yes, go for the Gretsch, they are very good guitars. And they are good looking on stage in addition to just being such a classic guitar.

I had problems with both of my Gibson's. The one that worked best for me is my Jackson!!
