What is the value of a lionel train set circa 1950

includes engine, coal car, baby ruth box car, caboose , and a misc carrier, have straight track and X track for figure 8.

It all depends on the condition of the items. The locomotive & tender are the big ticket items. Since it has a tender (not a coal hopper) it's probably a steam engine. Hopefully it is functional, & any additional working items (lights,smoke,sound) add to the value. The size of the engine plays a large part as far as $. Just count up the wheel layout, the smallest would be a 0-4-0, 0-6-0 switcher type. The larger locos had the front trucks (smaller wheels, larger driver type, and then possibly another set of smaller wheels). So it could be a 2-8-0, 4-6-2, 4-4-0 ect. If you have a larger engine you're in the money-there are many web sites, & a huge market.
