I learned two or three words by watching "Ni hao Kai-Lan" with the kids. I don't think that counts.

No, I can read some Chinese characters because I learned Japanese and their Kanji alphabet is very similar to Chinese, however I could not say it out loud. How about you? Can you speak Chinese? I would presume you can, as you asked the question.

I can~~~I'm from China~~~my English is not so good...

That's nice. How are you finding learning English? Apparently it's one of the hardest languages in the world to learn.
Report as
In China, we spend almost 9 years learning English. English is a compulsory course?but eventually, not all of us can speak it fluently.

My first question would be:
which Chinese?
A coworker once tried to teach me some Cantonese phrases, but I couldn't get the vowels and tonal rises right. I kept her in stitches with my horrific mispronunciations.
Then another coworker (same office) tried to teach me some Mandarin -- more hilarity!
They couldn't understand each other's Chinese, though, unless they spoke another Chinese that both knew a little bit. I forget what that one was called .. Wu, maybe?
.....
So, nope. No Chinese from me!
I know when I'm licked. :D

People in Hongkong and Guangdong Province speak Cantonese, it's very different from Mandarin, but both of them are Chinese~~~and "Wu"...I don't know what it is...sorry about that
Report as
I may have misremembered the "Wu" name (or spelled it wrong!), too -- it was years ago.

They are all very pretty sounding, though.

My husband can speak German pretty well, but German sounds comical to me. Plus, it makes our cats look at him strangely. Lol!
