What does ask mean when they say your comment was a bit to colorful?

It may have violated the guidelines in some way,shape, or form. Setting off the filter, which will then have your question/answer/comment to be looked at by a moderator to see if its removal was appropriate. Make sure you keep your language clean!

I suspect, from some my answers that the the "too colorful" thing, then were put back, that certain words with more than one meaning or use can trigger a check. If you weren't using the word to curse but simply to state your point, it may be all right.

As In: Dam the river -- okay. Damn the river -- might get deleted. Let's see.

DeepDark is along the right track, but it doesn't only relate to swear words.

The Ask software is programmed so that certain words trigger a response that suspends your answer until a Mod has had time to check it out and restore it. Unless you're way out of line that will be done fairly quickly.

Certainly a number of "swear words" are triggered automatically but so are other words that may signal the need for assistance. "Su1cide" is one of those. Had I spelt it properly this answer would have been flagged. Keep you eye on those answers of yours that are reviewed and you'll soon find out which they are.
