I was sleeping and got a calf cramp... look at the details to answer my question.

I woke up today around 2:30 starving for something to eat. So I got a little snack. Then i woke up around 5:00 A.M. with a pretty bad pain my calf, it tightened up into a rock and the pain was very excruciating lasting for about 30 seconds. I massaged it a little bit after and it felt a little bit better. I went back to sleep. I woke up around 7:15 A.M. and my Right calf felt a little bit better but I still had stabbing pains when i tried to walk on it.

-My Questions are can a calf cramp cause any injuries?

-Can i still exercise today, with my exercise containing a light jog and stretch and upper body workouts?

-How long will the calf pain linger after the cramp.
(Its been about 3 hours and i still have pain)

Thank you all for your time.

Eat foods rich in potassium to replenish energy and alleviate any existing pain. It can't cause injuries, but the muscles are contracting involuntarily because they are likely overworked and thus causes you pain. I wouldn't necessarily work out today if you worked your gastrocnemius to the point of cramping. At least not a lower body workout; upper body might be ok.

I wouldn't recomend jogging. That pain in your leg last about a day or so. Unless you know an expert in acupuncture.

It won't last long. You probably had a Charle's horse. The pain will go a way. And yes you can exercise on it

No a calf cramp can't cause injuries. I wouldn't exercise, just give it a little break and the time that it will last for varies. It sounds like you pulled a muscle or tendon. Good luck!

Next time it happens while sleeping, get up and walk ,no matter how much it hurts. Should make it go away in a minute or so.

Yes, you can exercise, but you have to do some extra stretching before hand and make sure you stay hydrated. A big glass of orange juice before and after would be best with water during.

Do not expect to do the run. Just stick with the stationary stuff. It is more of a precaution to keep you from over compensating elsewhere which could cause an injury

In the afternoon, make sure you have a banana or 2.

Drink lots of water. Eat lots of bananas and raisins. Wait a few hours before stretching.

I would assume it was a 'Charlie Horse'. Drinking water, doing good exercise, and eating potassium filled foods should help!
