In baseball when a batter strikes out and is thrown out attempting to steal first, who is credited with the putout?

Is it scored as a strikeout, a caught stealing, or what? Does the catcher get an assist?

I think it counts as a strike out any way ! Even if the catcher dropped the ball .

If he gets first base is it considered an error on the catcher?

Good question ! If the catcher dropped the ball and he made it to first , I would think of that as an error on the catcher !

No, it is considered either a wild pitch or a passed ball, and neither are recorded as an error.

It is a strike out if the ball is dropped by the catcher
If the batter reaches the base
After the ball has been dropped it is a strikeout .. E2... Error on catcher

It appears it is recorded as a K. Personally I would add a PB (or WP) with a 2-3 in the corner.
