What can you do to honor your deceased mother on Mother's Day?

I haven't done anything on Mother's Day since she's passed away. I already put fresh flowers on her grave each week, so I think it wouldn't be as special. I know this might seem like a stupid question, but I'm being serious. I don't know what I can do for her...

I know this may sound stupid but try it. Write a letter saying how your life is going and how much you miss her and love her. Then tie it to a ballon and go outside and let go of it. Just let it float to the clouds. It's kinda like sending her letter, even though she's passed away. By the way, I'm sorry for loss.

Plus, you can do this everyday if you'd like to. It's just a way of getting out feelings and things you want to say to her. And sorry about all the typos in my first response.

Awh, this is such a good idea!

You could do some volunteer work in her name, or make a donation in her memory.

You can spend a day sitting at her grave. Just talking to her. Sharing thoughts, feelings, wishes. That's what I would do. I'm sorry for your loss, be strong <3 x

I'm so sorry for your loss. You could send off balloons with special messages from your heart on each balloon.

my older sister recently passed away and her birthday is coming up in april, what we plan on doing, is getting a bunch of helium balloons, writing things on them with sharpies, and then letting them go into the sky. its a beautiful sight, and it helps to get out what you wish you could tell her on that special day.

If you have siblings, getting together for a meal and putting out pictures of her might be nice or looking through old family albums.

You don't need to do something special just for a festival. Each day can be a festival as long as you want. So keep in mind the best memories of the life with your mom, or always keep smiling or live a healthy life for your mom. Our lives are the excellent gifts from our moms, we need to keep them wonderful.

The traditional thing to do is simply to wear a "white" carnation, instead of pink or red which is worn when your Mother is still alive. Of course, if you don't want actually to wear it, you can put it, or several of them in a vase.

I too have had a difficult time losing my Mom. My 2nd granddaughter was born the week she died. There isn't a day I don't think of her. The balloon idea is a good one. I will do that!
She was a special lady who rose above a difficult life at times! THANKS!!!!

I used to always make a treat like cupcakes or something, and give them to neighbors and friends in their honor. Or you could just spend an extra amount of time at the grave that day. I always enjoy doing something for other people on that day, so it might be something you could look into. The balloon idea was awesome, too!

My mother passed away in 2006 and I try to do something nice for someone else's mother in her honor. I also burn a candle and buy roses. THe balloon idea is good, too. I think I will try it.

1. Donate a Bouquet of Flowers on Mother's Day in your Mother's name at her Church or Synagogue or at a neighboring Church/Synagogue. Make it an annual Floral donation in your Mother's name to various churches in the old neighborhood.

2. On May 1st, send beautful encouraging cards to other friends whose Mothers have passed on in loving memory of all their Mothers.

3. Donate money to your Mother's favorite Charity, or to a program that offers scholarships to people who are in or studying to be in your Mother's line of work.

Peace. (Think good thoughts while listening to: ww.WPGR.tv)

Go down and visit her grave. Set some flowers that you know she would of loved down where she is buried. (or cremated) It could be tough just do it though. She see it where she is now and she'll love you for it.

I found some stationary to print her favorite poem written by an annonyomus author and sent one to each of her brothers and sisters in her honor...the first mothers day after she died, then I usually visit her grave site and take her flowers and pray and talk to her...it has been quit a few years for me... we all have to go through the seven stages of greiving..and no two people do that at the same pace.. I can tell you that it get's easier as the years go by and after seven years I was able to talk about it without crying when I thought about her death... mind you I was holding my mothers hand when she took her last breathe at home in her own bed where she wanted to be...she was not in pain ...and went peacefully

you could write a poem for her, then light a candle in her memory, and read the poem out loud to the candle, so her spirit can hear you :)

I too am sorry for your loss. I myself would adopt an elderly woman and treat her. Your Mom will see this and know why you are doing it.

How about planting a tree in her honor? It could be something nice- one that flowers each year, or possibly a fruit tree. I don't have my mom anymore, either. I'm sorry for your loss.
