Dieting is NEVEr the answer. If the kid is eating way too much junk than a life style change needs to be made. It is never a good idea to completely get rid of the food the kids like such as candy or chips, but moderation is key. If kids eat trash all day long they are going to get fat.

Getting the kid active will help too, its not just about food, its about movement,. Our kids today don't run and play like we used to. If the kid has a Wii there are great video games they can play to boost activity. Get active with your children and it will be easier for them to participate.

Lose the pasta and bread. Eat fruit, lean meat, steamed vegetables have more flavor, And exercise. Walking to start, then jogging in small spurts until you get your breath steady, then run for short periods until you can stand for more. Don't try to run full out the first time if you haven't been exercising. Sit-ups crunches, jumping jacks, anything that gets the blood moving. Sustain the same heart rate for at least ten minutes before slacking off. Take a break, then do it again. Twenty minutes twice a day should be find for just 10 lbs.
