If the French language is considered a romantic language what would the English language be considered as?

Report as

Yes, French evolved from the ancient language of Latin. Any language with its linguistic roots in Latin is considered a Romance (Rome) language. I believe English is considered Germanic in origin. (Don't quote me on that though) English just happened to borrow many words from Latin and Greek. REAL OLD English is interesting to listen to and harder to understand than even Shakespeare.

Oui oui French is a Romance language because it comes from the type of Latin spoken in Ancient Rome. Other Romance languages are Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian. English is not a Romance language even though many English words do come from Latin. English is a West Germanic language first spoken in Medieval England. The English we speak now is very different from that English because it has borrowed so many words from other languages. Try reading any of Geoffrey Chaucers work in the original text. See how you do.
