Will You Please Help Me?

An Atheist Friend Of Mine Is Trying To Convert Me To Atheism. He Is Trying To Tell Me That There Is No God And Jesus Isn't God!!! What Do I Do?

Report as

You can't convert someone to atheism- it isn't a belief system.

Your beliefs are your own business. Unless he is responding to you trying to convert him (in which case he has every right to make a rebuttal), tell him you don't want to talk about religion. Your religion is your own business, just like his atheism is his. Let him know that you respect his right not to believe and he should respect your right to.

Just say, "Yea that's cool and all but I believe in God (if you do) and I'm not going to become an atheist." Or stop being his/her friend .__.

Avoid talking to him on this subject.
Besides, does your logic accept that there is no God? Is it possible at all? So, the whole universe came into existence out of nothing by itself?!

U can hang out with ppl that r strong in their faith instead of the atheist. Read the gospels more to help increase your faith. Pray for your atheist friend. Our God IS much bigger than than lies told about Him. He is Love. Trust Him

A person can't convert another to atheism. Atheism is simply the lack of belief in any higher power. You can't convert someone to a lack of belief. If you had tried to convert him earlier and he's only responding to you, then by all means let him talk to you about it and listen to what he has to say. He listened to you, now he's rebutting everything you say. I would say to just not hang out with the guy if he bothers you so much.

Ask God to help you to stand strong in your faith. Just because your friend is telling you that God doesn't exist, doesn't mean you have to give in, you know that He does. YOU need to be a good witness for Christ.

Scripture says: the fool hath said in his heart: there is no God!
Dont let your friends pull to down to their level.(Satan is using him to get you turn to him instead of Jesus)
Satan roams around day and night seeking whom he may devower!
Pic friends who can lift you up to Higher Ground.....( What a friend we have in Jesus!)

So...now you're referring to all atheists as a lower level of human?
I think ANY advice from that person, is poor.

Listen to him, if you don't agree tell him, and then move on to other conversations. Blindly calling him a liar and not listening to him, just shows him you are a blind ignorant believer. Listening and disproving his points with facts and logic, shows your faith has merrit and is to be believed. If you have faith and your religion is as true as you claim, how will listening to his lies hurt? Their just lies with no facts or proof to support them right? Or do I have your point of view and his mixed up?

I'm in agreement with a few above, I find it wrong to try to convert anyone to anything they don't want to believe, Just tell him you believe in God and to drop it, otherwise I'd drop him as a friend. However if you pressured him to accept Jesus and Christianity, then I think it's his turn, and fair is fair. If you don't want to accept his viewpoint then tell him so and agree to not bring up the subject again.

Flamos22 - I agree with several people above. Many people will not talk about religion or politics, so tell him you're one of them. You've evidently had an experience with God, like many of us have, and therefore believe. Hang onto that. Those that have NOT met Jesus are totally unable to understand what you're trying to say, or find what you say is foolishness, like mentioned above. Shut down the argument, you will never win over someone who has not opened their heart, and it's not your job to do that. But when he's not around, pray for him, and let the Holy Spirit do His work... You are definitely on the right track!

Now, what happens when he can pick apart the whole reason that you believe?
Report as
Anyone can pick apart the truth,i have faith that he's smarter then that.
Report as
If something is true...you can't pick it apart.
If you say "I just had lemonade" and you did, how would you pick that apart?
If you say "I just had lemonade" and you DIDN'T, someone could say "Then why did I not see you leave the room?" or "We don't have lemonade" or "You're alergic to lemons!".

"Ask Jesus sincerely, and He'll tell you the Truth." Problem is - everyone asks the wrong person - scientists, even preachers. They should ask God Himself... That's the only way they'll know for sure.
Report as
I won't be afraid to witness to God,regaurdless of what others think, because all said and done,God knows I am telling the truth.

Whatever you need to tell yourself Deb.
Whatever makes you feel good about looking stupid to people on the internet.
Report as
Exactly the opposite, WA. YOU'RE the one who looks ignorant and arrogant. Too bad... God doesn't like people to have a bunch of pride in themselves - tends to go to their heads...
Report as
What you said, has no value to me.
Why should I fear a punishment, assigned to YOUR religion (that has no evidence to back it up), when you don't follow the rule yourself?
Report as
Okay. You're absolutely right, WA. Whatever you say. Have a nice day.

I'm not saying I'm right.

Do they have a gun pointed at your head? Then they can't make you believe or not believe anything. Tell them you respect their view and now it's time they respect yours as well.

Really, all you have to do is ask your friend to prove that there is no God. Hey try to do this by pointing out all of the bad things that happen to people. And then he may say that if there was a God, he would not let such things happen. What your friend doesn't know is that in the Bible at Deuteronomy chapter 32 and verses 4 and 5, the Creator reveals why bad things happen. It states:

4 The Rock (God), perfect is his activity,* For all his ways are justice. A God* of faithfulness, with whom there is no injustice; Righteous and upright is he. 5 They have* acted ruinously on their own part;* They are not his children, the defect is their own.* A generation crooked and twisted!

Note that in verse 5 the Creator reveals that because of men acting in a rebellious manner against what he teaches them, they are in fact the cause of the suffering. But soon God will do away with them. Read Psalm 37: verses 9-11 and verse 29 to your friend. If they accept what the Bible teaches, well then good. But if not, you have done your best to help them. You have no need for fear or worry.

So, all us non believers are responsible for the Christians next door losing everything they owned in a house fire. No wonder they won't answer my calls. I wish they would answer, I need to apologize.

But Anthony - the Bible says it rains on the evil AND the good... ??? We can't EARN God's good favor, it's a gift.
Report as
MarSch, I'm in complete agreement with the fact that we cannot earn God's Favor. But what God himself states highlights what he is willing to do in an effort to help persons see him for what he is. A loving, kind, generous person. Really, he is not to blame for the badness that has taken place, it is really because rebellious mankind.

Your friend said half the truth.
He hit the truth that prophet Jesus is not God.
While he denied the existence of the God, and this is contrary to the truth.
So I call all of us to the moderate Islam.
God said:
Thus We have made you [true Muslims - real believers of Islamic Monotheism, true followers of Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah (legal ways)], a just (and the best) nation, that you be witnesses over mankind and the Messenger (Muhammad) be a witness over you.
Words I love to Conclude.
It is time to find out about Islam. It is time to find out about the truth by using your own Mind.
A Time for Thought.
A Time for Change.
A Time for Action.

Hi! I think you should STAND FIRM with your FAITH. Let your life speak His word. Let your life be an evidence that there is a GOD. You don't need to say anything just continue believing and lived according to GOD's plan. Only by the Grace of God we will be saved.

And take this an opportunity to Know God more, maybe, He is trying to test your FAITH.
So pray for it. The answers is on the way..
REMEMBER: John 14:6. :-)
