Can my high school make me come back after graduation to make up days?

I am 18 years old and I am attending high school. I have a 3.2 gpa, and all A's except for one B. I am caught up on my work. I have missed 18 days due to being sick, and I have no insurance so I can't get a doctor's note. PLEASE HELP!

They can hold your diploma for several reasons like unpaid fines, failure to return school property etc. if you missed a lot of days and still kept that gpa I don't think they can stop you from graduating.

Well see the reason why i have missed the days is because i was sick and in the hospital. i have the report of me being in the ER, but not a specific note saying to excuse me from school. I dont miss school to miss. See i have made up all of my work and i am already ahead of the class in work when i have only been back for two days. The only important class i have is English. I have a 96% in that class.

Well we are allowed to miss ten days and they only talk about the kids that dont make up there work, but i have and i dont understand why they wouldnt let me graduate. There is this kid that failed 12th grade last year and went to school one day a week, and now is graduating and they let him go home two months ago but he still gets to graduate, and i have better grades thatn he does and i have been here more.

Yes you should be able to graduate with your class!

It's called truancy, and it's a legal requirement to get you to make up those days.

You have the report of going to the ER, can you get a record of being in the hospital? This is something you and your parents would discuss with the principal, and if the principal won't help, then you call the county Board of Education. Worse comes to worse, you have a right to appeal it in front of the BOE committee. But you and your parents need to keep on top of it.

That other kid probably attended to simply make up what he didn't pass last year, not as a 100% new year of school.

Yes, regardless of grade average you are required by law to attend a specific amount of days. Speak with the head administer, you might be able to attend summer or night classes.

Understood, however it's not based on good grades or good behavior, you are still required to be on property a certain number a days for a certain amount of time. : (

I'd check it out with them. I don't know what your plans are for the future, but a college or university might question that. I know some companies are petty about things like that. if you claim to have graduated from HS and a background check reveals you have not, it can be grounds for not hiring you.

Sure. If you havnt been there enough days they can withhold your diploma until you make it up. You arent officially graduated until the admin signs off on it.
