Please explain to me how to factor Polynomials?

I am in Algebra 1. a Freshman Highschool Class. I need help with Polynomials and Factoring. May someone please be so kind as to explain to me how to do so? On an equation such as 4n^2 - 8n + 3. Wheras (^2) means 2 to the second power. So (4n) times itself twice. Please help, and greatfully thankful if you do.

You have to find the two expression which multiplied together would equal that polynomial. You basically use trial and error. I would suggest you ask for help from a teacher, tutor, or read your text carefully. You use FOIL to check your answer.

(2n-1)(2n-3)
