Can you decide to change your religion from "x" to "y"?

is it easy to change ur religion? will u do it if you find something better than ur last religion?

Like Sarah said, no one can force you to believe something you know is not true, you have the freedom and right to believe whatever you want. Now weather that's the correct belief or not is up to you to figure out!

If you live in the United States of America you have freedom of religion so long as it does not include multiple wives or abusing others. You can do your thing, baby! Be whatever and worship as you see fit. It may not be pleasing to God but that is between you and your maker.

Just seek the truth and the truth shall set you free.

Yes, yes, and yes. What you believe or worship is entirely up to you. That's what 'freedom of religion' is about.

If you are seeking God.. There is only one true God. If you find Him.. You will not want to change. He is LOVE.

It's not going to be easy, especially if your changing your religion from what your parents religion is. I changed religions from Catholicism to a non denominational Christianity. My mom was upset with me and other people too, especially when I didn't want to baptize my daughter as a baby. I feel when she is ready and knows the meaning of it, she can choose to do so herself. But, it's your choice. We all have free will.

When one chooses knowledge over ignorance and reason over prayer, one can leave religion behind easily. But it is only when you decide to open your mind that this can be done successfully.

NOW LETS LOOK at the other side of this coin:
Now if you were my child, and we were God loving , believing and obeying Christians(we are not Catholic)
I woud be upset and be on my knees praying! ( because Catholics dont believe the way us Baptist do)
And if we KNEW we had brought you up in the admonition of the Lord-we would know that your heart is right and we would always lovingly coax you back home( like the prodical kid).
And pray for God to bring you back!
--->
Once a child makes a profession of faith( now in the Cath faith there doesnt seem to be this step),
Then you have the Holy Spirit in you and 'nothing can snatch you out of His hand'

Why do you keep comparing it to the Catholic religion and not one other single religion in the whole world of thousands of religions? Is that common in your religion or church? I was just truly curious. Thanks in advance if you see this and answer it. :)

Depends on the religion. Some are free and open and some not. If you are Amish, for instance, if you choose to leave the Amish Church you are shunned which basically means banned from any contact with the community or church. You might still live there but it will be as if you dint exist. Even your own family would have to ignore you or risk getting shunned and banned. The Mormon Church isnt that bad but its still diffucult to leave. Church of Scientology is another diffucult one to get out of and we all know about Islam and how hard it is to get free of that one.

People most often believe in the religion of their parents. Why is this? Well, they grew up with it. It's what they saw. It's what they experienced. If you were born and raised Southern Baptist, and currently live in a community full of Southern Baptists, it will be exceptionally difficult to suddenly switch to Hinduism. But...say you move to an area where nearly everybody is Hindu. Shouldn't be all that difficult then.

Humans have a tendency to follow the crowd.

Yes, you can believe anything you want, no one can control what you think. Just watch what you say in some countries, there are a lot of ignorant hateful people out there.

Study the Bible, compare Bible translations. 1 Peter 3:16. " they have twisted his letters around to mean something quite different from what he meant, just as they do the other parts of the Scripture---and the result is disaster for them." (Living Bible) very important to do your research as to what the Bible says, compare it to what the Church is teaching. Had one Minister admit to me that he teaches what the congregation wants to hear. That's his job, makes a good buck, from the people that contribute to the Church. Fancy rings, cars, nice house, not going to Rock the Boat and risk his job by teaching everything the Bible says. Bible is truth, just finding it is a challenge.
