I asked Medicaid to close my mom's still pending case when she died. Instead, they promptly approved it. Why now? It is no longer needed.
We had jumped through all of the hoops, continued to send info to Medicaid as needed and asked, but there was always something more. Her caseworker told us over and over that what we sent was the LAST they needed. However, they continued to ask for info, often info that had already been sent once or twice before. The case was still pending when she died. As soon as I asked that her case be closed, it was approved! Medicaid never paid anything toward my mother's care. All monies came from her SS and retirement, sibsidized by my personal funds. There is a balance owed to the nursing home that we have already made arrangements with the facility to pay. How can we refute the approval? Why approve immediately after her death even though they were still asking for information from us?
