Too many chiefs (administrators) not enough Indians (teachers) Too many parents who think their little snowflakes are just wonderful and can do no wrong. Too many child psychologists trying to keep everyone's psyches from being damaged (hurt feelings) Too many parents who want teachers to teach things that should be taught at home Too many parents who don't give a crap.
A lot. So many people my age today seem to be so stupid! Wether it's the horrible spelling (I don't mean simple errors, but sometimes it gets ridiculous) or arguing over who is right about a math problem, even though they are both wrong since neither of them know the order of operations. Most of these people you see are high schoolers! I mean, how do you make it to high school, if you are so uneducated?
"I think what’s actually happened is that the people in politics have taken over, making too many decisions about what’s appropriate for kids. I think too often we don’t talk to the people who are closest to the daily lives of the students in the classroom, those being teachers, and we make all kinds of decisions based on private and corporate need. So many political interests are being served, and children are becoming pawns in that arrangement, as are parents."Bena Kallick
The government is in charge of it. Think about it...is there ANYTHING that that the government is in charge of that is successful and beneficial to the masses? And, no, it isn't the amount of money being spent...it's what the money is being spent on. Oh, and also lack of parental involvement.
It's based on the idea anyone can do anything they set their mind too. Not everyone can do calculus, and not everyone needs geometry and algebra. Kids should be separated before high school, send those that are suitable to trade schools, and those that are smart enough on to more difficult subjects.
