Yes, honey, it can. But there are some alternatives. One is letting your hair dry a little before you put the heat to it. And one is to use it on the cool setting instead of the hot setting. Also, products are made that you can put in your hair that can help prevent the heat damage.
My styling brush uses 800 watts on its highest setting, 400 on low. Those high heat dryers ARE damaging to your hair, it's also a waste of electricity. You don't need 2300 watts of heat to dry your hair!
