Hi, Archer. That's not true. 'Extremely sorry' implies guilt and God doesn't want you to feel guilty.
Report as
Don't get me wrong though, He wants us to KNOW when we're guilty; just not feel terrible about it. He just wants us to be happy and if we're truly provided with the Holy Spirit we will be.
Report as
The bible says nothing about confessing your sins to a priest. You must pray to Jesus to get to God. No one get to the father except through the son. But what do any of the Christian sects tells us, a way to get out of your transgressions by praying does it but without the responsibility for your actions. All religions are just another form of government ran by people that take your money and make bullshit promises. Your Christian god is a vengeful and angry god. Who admitted that there were other gods lesser than him, really now that was convenient. If you believe in a god that gave you the right to make your own choices then use your brain. Where is he, do you think that 2000 years is enough time to make travel arrangements to get back to earth. When you die you die, ashes to ashes. If it makes you feel better believing in a god choose there are many different forms of religions out there to pick. The older people get the more they want to live and see old friends again and family, a god lets you fool yourself and be at peace

As human beings we are born into sin but God's son Jesus was perfect . Read the Gospel of John in the Bible to learn more. Then if you realize that you are a sinner and that you cannot save yourself through anything that you can do and that only the blood that Jesus shed on the cross can cover your sins then you pray directly to Him and tell him you are sorry and ask Him to save you. The Bible says " believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved".

You have to repent. You have to be truly sorry for what you have done and either give up that particular sin or give up the benefits from it (ex: if you stole a tv, you can't repent but keep the tv). Basically, you have to actively try to lead a better life and learn from your mistake.

Helpful (1) Fun (1) Thanks for voting Comments (8)
Report as
I'm sorry, can you further explain your "give up the benefits" statement?
Report as
Hmmm... Well, it would depend on the situation. If you are befitting from the after effects of the sin, then you haven't truly repented. I can't really think of a better way to explain it... If you steal money, you can't repent if you keep the money. You won't be forgiven for premarital sex if you continue to have premarital sex. At least, that's how I understand it. That forgiveness comes from a conscious effort to improve yourself; you don't just 'get' it, you have to 'earn' it. I'm sorry that I don't know how to phrase this better.
Report as
I understand now. Thank you. I have another question if that's okay?
Report as
Sure, ask away (sorry for the delayed response).
Report as
Whenever I sin or feel guilty for sinning I hallucinate, sometimes severely, and they're usually creepy or demonic hallucinations. There's one certain sound I specifically hallucinate when I'm heavily contemplating on spiritual matters. It can be very scary because as soon as I start to sin I hear this noise, and I hear it again after I sin. I'm very confused about this. Do you know what it could be?
Report as
Oh, wow. Let me preface this by saying that I have only a basic understanding of psychology, but I have heard of something called synesthesia. This is where a person experiences one of the senses, or emotions through different senses. For example, they might be able to 'smell' colors, or 'hear' sadness. Maybe you have this, and you 'hear' the emotion of the guilt associated with sinning. Like I said, I am not a credible source of information. If this is really bothering you, I'd do some research or talk to a professional.
Report as
If your hallucinations are going beyond just sound, I'd definitely see a doctor (personally, I'd go see one now, just to be safe, especially if this is a recent occurrence).
Report as
I've heard of Synesthesia. I have two types so I know what it's like, and this noise is not it. And yes my hallucinations are of all senses and perceptions.
.
Thanks for your advice! I appreciate it.

You have to ask for forgiveness of your sins and believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. God will not hesitate to forgive you. Also repent for your sins and accept Jesus into your heart. Hope this works out for you.

When I was young, I was taught that sins were forgiven when Jesus died for us. And all we really had to do was believe that, accept him into our lives, and try not to sin anymore.its really that simple. These are not my beliefs any longer, but many do believe this.If it makes them happy, then it's a good thing.

He did all the work, he lived a sinless life, he paid for your sins, he provided atonement and he did all this while you were yet a sinner. One only needs to cling to the life raft to be saved. Cling to Jesus, and he will be your champion, he will fight for you and he will do what you cannot. And when you can resist sin, you should resist it. He will do for you when you can not, and will test you when you can, so that by the proven faith you will have assurance of your salvation.

We have to be truly sorry for what we have done and try our hardest to not make the same mistake again but sometimes it happens. No matter how hard I try I tend to make the same mistake we should never take Christ's love for granted.

All you have to do is ask God to forgive you through Jesus, believing that Jesus died to pay for your forgiveness - and He will forgive you! You can't earn forgiveness from God. You can't pay for your forgiveness from God. You can only receive it, by faith, through the grace and mercy of God.

You have to be truly repentant and recognize what you did wrong. Then pray to God (Jehovah is God's name found in Psalm 83:18) and tell God how you feel.

Try to find the root, meaning start from the beginning of the sin to find out how to

break the cycle and a study of the bible always help to get Gods viewpoint on things.

Heeeyy Marcus. :) I believe that repenting comes through acknowledging the sin, and by asking for God's forgiveness, and by coming to the Lord with a broken heart and a contrite spirit. (Psalms 51:17).We must have Godly sorrow, and we repent with the intent of doing better. We must also be willing to forgive others, as Matthew teaches. (Matthew 6:14-15.) I believe it's also important, to forgive ourselves afterwards. It's really hard to feel the Savior's love for us and the relief of forgiveness and love that comes through the atonement, when we harbor ill feelings towards ourselves.
.
If you're having difficulting with REPEATING a sin, pray daily and ask for help, confess your weakness to The Lord, and that you're in need of His divine help, and can't do it alone. Pray daily to come off conquer from temptation, and read your scriptures daily. I find that when I read my scriptures in the morning, and pray, I feel extra strength. Some sins are hard to overcome. Don't expect perfection right away, but do demand better of yourself. If it helps, talk to someone you trust for extra help. I hope I helped. :) sorry for the essay, lol.

He will by no means forgive those who hardheartedly practice willful sin, not showing any repentance. (Hebrews 10:26) On the other hand, when he sees a contrite heart, he is ready to forgive. A repentant David said: “My sin I finally confessed to you, and my error I did not cover. . . . And you yourself pardoned the error of my sins.” (Psalm 32:5) The term “pardoned” translates a Hebrew word that basically means “lift up” or “carry.” Its use here signifies to take away “guilt, iniquity, transgression.” So Jehovah, in effect, lifted up David’s sins and carried them away. This no doubt eased the feelings of guilt that David had been carrying. (Psalm 32:3) We too can have full confidence in the God who carries away the sins of those who seek his forgiveness on the basis of their faith in Jesus’ ransom sacrifice.—Matthew 20:28.

Hope I helped!

Say you are sorry to whoever was affected, pray to god that you won't do it again, and honestly change what you are doing. I don't know what church you go to, and I don't want to say anything that could be offensive about your religion, but I think as long as you honestly try to do everything different, and believe that you can be forgiven, I think you will be fine. Good Luck.
