Best Stephen King books?

I can't stand the cliche teen books anymore so I've started venturing into adult reads. I just started a Stephen King book and I'm looking for some suggestions. What are your favorites?

The Dark Tower series is my favorite by SK! He's one of my FAVORITE writers! :) And this is one of my all time favorite books!

PS If you like King you should check out Dean Koontz. He has some amazing books and their writing styles are very similar! (Let me know if you want some DK book suggestions)

I've always avoided Stephen King (and mostly, Dean Koontz) but I've heard so many good things about him on Ask that I think I'd better give him a try.

D. If you like mystery, you'll love them. And actually SK's The Dark Tower series, isn't his "normal" type of book. This series is about the worlds last gunslinger Roland Deschain. The entire series (which is 7 or 8 books) he is trying to reach "The Dark Tower" and the books are about his travels. It's an amazing fantasy, science fiction, love story.

Sounds good. I have a few books lined up at the moment but I'll pop by the library and see what they've got. Thanks.

You're very welcome! I've been wanting to discuss these books for a long time. Maybe I'll finally get to! :)

Hey there! I've read everything in book form that the "King" and the " Dean" have written-- some three times. They are both WOW writers. My fave SK book was the first one I read, 'Salem's Lot. And Children of the Corn. (I'm on my iPhone and it doesn't do underlining or italics). My fave DRK books are Strangers and Watchers. But I haven't read anything either has written that I didn't like. Talked to one lady on here who named her baby boy after SK.

Some times I got a little bogged down in the Tower series, but it didn't keep me from being first in line the day the next book came out! How he kept all the characters and events in order, I'll never understand! I guess that's what makes him the fantastic writer he is! I. Never saw the ending coming! True SK style! Have you read Under the Dome?

That was to CJ. She's already read them.

The Stand, The Dead Zone, Salem's Lot, Hearts in Atlantis, The Shining, The Green Mile, Carrie, Pet Sematary and Misery are some of Stephen King's best books. However, what is best is dependent on a person's taste and preference, so the list is bound to change. See details on www.vulture.com/2012/04/ranking-all-62-stephen-king-books.html.
