My dog mimics me, is that normal?

My dog copies my yawn. We rescued her from a pretty bad situation at 4 weeks old, and once she got used to us and got more attached to me, she started to copy a lot of my mannerisms(if that is even possible lol). She started to copy my yawn mostly. I do a little squeak at the end of my yawns, and she never did it until she heard me start doing it. is that normal? and why would she mimic me?

Yawns being contagious is common among many social animals including humans and dogs. It just means that your dog has bonded with you and considers you as part of her social network. Monkeys, apes, rats, dogs and humans copy yawns when seen. It's an expression of a characteristic known as empathy.

:) she was very attached to me, she would actually wait outside the bathroom door while i showered to greet me when i came out (every day!) for the entire time. My family members said that she would just sit outside the door completely still/ quite (unless i took too long, because then she might whine and shift a tad) and either stare at the door or wall with her back to the door lol
