Should I do it?

I might have to get surgery to cure myself of a now, four year long constant back pain. The doctors are leaving it up to me. It gets better but never goes away. It gets so bad that I can't move a lot of times. I'm fifteen. Should I get the surgery or not? Please leave your opinion and your reason for why I should or shouldn't get it.

If the pain is that bad, and it will alleviate the pain, I'd have to say yes..so you can get your quality of life back.

If it bothers you a great deal, and doesn't allow you to do some things, you probably should get it. It never hurts to try.

I'm sorry. Why don't you talk to your parents?

If you are getting vertebraes fused, I'd say no. Everyone that I know that has wished they wouldn't have (except a bull rider who plans to never break his neck again).

I have to vote for the surgery. I had back surgery at the age of 17. It was the best thing for me, no more pain.

You injured your back?
Report as
Yep, I hurt my back while working at a part time job when I was 16. I lived with the pain for a year and waited until I graduated high school to have the surgery.

Do the doctors tell you the pain will be gone after the surgery. If they say they aren't sure then you have to ask yourself if its worth it.

I have an issue with my back they want to replace two disc because they are pretty much gone. But everyone I ask who has had that surgery says they are still in pain and still take pain meds. So I ask myself what's the point if I am still going to have to take pain meds.
