How to get rid of an inconvenient (and slightly embarrassing) reputation?

The result of this accidental action has gotten me a nickname among my peers...and I'm sick of it.

Play along and make fun of yourself - it takes all the fun out of it for others.

lol I do.

That is the best advice. If you try to deny or protest too much, they will only tease you more. It may take awhile, but it will blow over.

Talk to them if they're your friends. If they aren't your friends you may need help from an authority figure.

Laugh about it. Look like it don't bother you. Soon it should get old and they should forget. But If not tell them and your true friends should understand how you feel and stop.

''The Nut Cracker'' lol

Lol, well that's an easy one to handle. I'll assume you're the recipient of a "low blow" of some sort. Here's a couple methods I'd use: "Hey nutcracker. . ." -Dude, why are you always talking about my n***?- -That's more action than you've ever seen- -Ask all you want, I'm not showing them to you- etc, etc, along those lines. You could also live up to your name by taking cheap shots (if you follow) at your friends. The name will disappear quickly. But if nothing else, rest assured another person will have a similar accident, and you'll be forgotten.

"nut cracker" is not so bad. But I agree with Torn, slap 'em in the face with it.

I am the one that has given the ''low blow''. lol
It's an on going joke among the guys at the local dojo.
When I first started training I would get nervous sparring guys (I'm a woman),
so during kick boxing when they came after me I would kind of freak out and land a mighty kick right between their legs as a defense! lol I did this few times unfortunately....inflicting terrible pain whether they wore a cup or not.

So now I am often referred to as the nut cracker, by instructor and students alike. LOL I crack them.

It's especially hard when the so called "authority figure"starts it all.The best you can do for now is either play along or go tell the one that started it to cut it out.If that doesn't work, make up a name for him.See how this "adult" likes it.Good luck.

It may never die out. What you need to do is tell those close to you that you don't appreciate it & get them to give you another, worthy nickname, that may take time to catch on, but it will.

Do a good kind deed or gesture for someone & that may change people's opinion of you that don't really know you but only know off your reputation.

I'll try. :)

There are many people within your community who could do with an act of kindness. Especially the elderly with no family close by to assist with cooking meals or lawn mowing or a trip to supermarket or doctors appointment. etc
Report as
I know..I've been looking into doing some things like that. :)

That is what validates you inside as a good person. We all have a responsibility to our own families but when we step outside the box & help others we truly do improve the quality of our own lives. For the first time in 16 years due to working 4 days a week & school one day a week I'm not doing any voluntry work at the moment so I decided to work an extra 4 hours a week without pay when I'm at work so that I'm giving somewhere. It's not much but at least it's something, with my busy schedule & homework. Enjoy whoever you choose to help.

I surely will! Thank you. :)
