Vitamin C is a must! You can take up to 1000mg a day and not over-dose.. I take it to help prevent colds and such, and on the rare occasion I DO get sick (usually common cold or sinus), vitamin C helps shorten the duration of the cold. Vitamin C has been shown in studies to minimize and in some cases clear up cancer, but the doses were extremely high, such as 10,000mg or more/day.

Hyaluronic Acid (helps with joints and spine better than glucosamine, helps moderate inflammation reactions, helps with preventing scarring with healing, helps with wrinkles), Choline is another good one you can take (it's a nutrient the brain needs), Krill Oil or what I take daily is an Omega-Krill Oil combo pill (it's more effective than fish oil on cholesterol, also helps women with menstrual pains and PMS, and is a natural antioxidant). I also take Resveratrol, for extra antioxidants, (I have been seeing some results, if I take it daily, my skin is much smoother and younger looking, and deep wrinkles seem less deeper..)

Grains, sugar (cane), veggies, meats etc. exposed to limited or no processing tend to be more nutrient & fiber rich than their processed counterparts, perhaps providing additional resources for the metabolism to draw on, reducing the pool of available interventions should the organism show signs of imminent failure. Further, some processing may introduce destructive or otherwise undesirable effects for which interventions may or may not be concurrently available.

Most of us (71% Caucasians, 54% Asians and 73% Africans) have a genetic variation (gene: SLC30A8) that makes it so we need more zinc than the recommended daily allowance! Low zinc levels are associated with increased risk for obesity and type 2 diabetes... check out how PPAR genes also increase risk for these conditions... http://www.gbhealthwatch.com/HotTopic-ThriftyGene-CalorieCount.php

Vitamin supplements don't really help unless you are deficient in a certian vitamin or mineral. This is because you're body only can absorb what it needs and then you just pee the extras out.
