Some dogs are being prescribed Atopica throughout their lifetime. It all depends on the allergy. Sometimes you might need to give antibiotics to kill infection before giving Atopica. If paws are itching, daily soaking, especially in epsom salt solution and washing paws with certain shampoos designed for skin conditions like dermatitis reliefs itching as well. Some vets try different meds to find the one that will actually work on your dog. It all depends on what your dog is allergic to. Your dog might have allergies from anything, including food. Switching to good quality grain-free food and treats also might help.
