Because he's had to struggle and really understands rap as an art. I personally don't like rap but I like him a lot. People like Drake who have not had to battle things he's had too. He's an inspiration because he doesn't just rap about w33d he motivates people by saying life's hard, deal with it let it make you stronger and don't play the victim he accepts his flaws and never gave up despite being poor, supporting his mother, living in a trailer, constantly being downtrodden by trying to be successful in a predominately African American music genre. He doesn't hide his emotions or problems from the world and is very honest when others aren't, he's supported a child that wasn't his and does the right things for the most part.
A little mainstream for my taste, but there is no denying that he is an extremely talented emcee. The fact that he is white lends to the level of respect he has earned both because of his skills on the microphone, and because a whole new audience/demographic was reached by his music. That and because he was signed by Dr. Dre.
