Is man born good or Evil?

Report as

Neutral, we are raised by our parents and influenced by our environment and then we decide by our own free will. But I'll say we lean towards good.

Depends on the religion. My take is we're all born with sin but we're still pure. It just depends on if the heart chooses the side of good or bad. And how mature of a person you become and are raised to be.

Everybody is born good and pure and in the light but we all have sin. Jesus redeemed us of our sins but if we don't believe him that doesn't make us evil either. We are evil if we fall in to temptation by evil and darkness. So my answer is that we are all born good but we can all be corrupted at a very early age at anytime so we need to be on our guard.

We're all born with the inclination to be selfish and self centered (don't have to TEACH a baby to have a temper tantrum), jealous/greedy (every toy in eyesight is MINE!), which leans towards evil. We are born with the sin nature. However, I don't think we're born entirely evil, but with some good, too. We have choices to make in our lives as to which direction we will go...

That man is totally depraved does not mean that man is as bad as he can be but rather that man is full of sin in all his faculties, heart, mind, soul, reason, memory, affections, conscience and will. Sin runs throughout the entire person of his character and it is totally affected with sin. This being the case man is said to be totally depraved rather than partially depraved. This depravity has also been called total inability, that is, man is unable apart from divine and sovereign grace to do anything good. Man is a sinner as Romans 3:23 states "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
"The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Jemeiah 17:9

Romans 5:12 says "That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned." So we're not necessarily born good or evil, we're just born imperfect.

When we are born, we are perfect, and until we are old enough to know what is wrong or right in God's eyes, we stay that way. Then we make our own decisions which is when we become imperfect

Good. I don't think anyone is actually evil, everyone thinks that what they are doing is right. Hitler thought what he was doing was right, Osama Bin Laden thought what he was doing was right, anyone who does something wrong at the time thinks it is what they need to do. So, yes, I think everyone is born good, and their actions decide what exactly they are.

When Adam sinned, he lost the right to everlasting life for himself and for all of his yet unborn offspring. (Genesis 2:17) When he became a sinner because of his disobedience, he became defective, imperfect. From that time on, Adam’s body became, in effect, programmed for death.

As the Bible says, “the wages sin pays is death.” (Romans 6:23) Moreover, the imperfect offspring of Adam also became programmed for death, not for everlasting life. The Bible explains: “Through one man [Adam] sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.”—Romans 5:12.

When you ask such a question, you have to take into consideration our first parents, Adam and Eve. Eve was thoroughly deceived by Satan the Devil, but Adam was not deceived. (1Ti 2:14) With full knowledge Adam willfully and deliberately chose to disobey and then as a criminal he tried to hide. (Gen. 3:9-11)
This was the tragic start Adam gave the human race. Through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned. Death ruled as king from Adam down. (Ro 5:12,14)
Despite the innocency of a newborn babe, sin and imperfection have already been at work within him since conception. (Ps. 51:5) Despite diligent efforts to bring up our children in the "mental regulating of Jehovah", they are still prone to wrong doing. (Eph. 6:4; Prov. 22:15) Jehovah mercifully took note of this miserable inheritance that is passed along from parents to children.
OUR own experiences and the experiences of others remind us daily that one is not born with a good heart and a bent of mind toward righteousness.

Neither, we wasn't born good nor evil, but because of our first parents Adam and Eve, we were born into sin and thereby are imperfect. However we was not created as robots, Jehovah God has given us the free will either to do good or to do bad. His written word the bible can help us in any decision we make in life for 2 Timothy 3:16,17 says that "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work". Yes, the entire bible is God's gift to us. All 66 books from Genesis to Revelation. When we read and apply what we learn, then we are doing the things that are pleasing to our loving God Jehovah.

According to the Bible at Romans 5:12 talks about how we are all sinners because we inherited sin from Adam. Romans 5:19-21 however holds hope for us showing that even though one act of disobedience caused us all to be sinners through Adam, one act of obedience through Jesus Christ can give us a chance to gain everlasting life on a paradise earth (Psalms 37:29)

Man is born with free will. The ability and desire to choose as he please. Because of this at any given moment man can be good or bad (sort-of-speak). Regardless of or forefathers man has the power to choose. It's is his choice that can be label good or evil. Thus so is the man as he is his own choice.

From my perspective of a cynical intellectual atheist, belief in good and evil is only for children. There is not any universal definition of absolute good and absolute evil in terms of religious/philosophical values, for what one may believe is good, others may consider bad. Man is naturally set to act in purely self-indulgent, self-interested way and constantly seek for his own pleasures only. From the psychological PoV, finding these pleasures may be considered good, being not able to find them is to be considered bad.
However, in terms of relationships and human qualities, some people may take pleasure in helping other people finding their own pleasure. Personally, I consider this urge the fundamental basis of goodness in men, as it is intuitively understood by most people. It, however, requires a truckload of empathy, moderate idealism and wisdom to identify the way that other people may find their own happiness, as well as the ability to manipulate the other person in a desirable way.

The Bible frankly states: “The imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth.” (Genesis 8:21, Revised Standard) Thus, children are bent toward mischief. (Proverbs 22:15) From birth, all of us are inclined to do wrong. (Psalm 51:5) To do good requires effort.

Every deliberate act, good or evil, is preceded by a thought. Sowing positive and virtuous thoughts reaps good fruitage. Conversely, if seeds of selfish desire are allowed to germinate in the mind, a bumper crop of evil is likely to result. (Luke 6:43-45; James 1:14, 15) Thus, it could be said that man is as good or as evil as he chooses to be.

Happily, the Bible indicates that goodness can be learned. (Isaiah 1:16, 17) Love is the compelling force to do what is good, since “love does not work evil to one’s neighbor.” (Romans 13:10) When we cultivate love for people, it is unthinkable for us to act in an evil way toward anyone.

"The Innocent Are Mine! Says The Lord"

Thus says The Lord God: Must I speak to that which is obvious?... Says The Lord. Must My servant be drawn away continually, so he may convey the Word of God before you, My beloved? How is it you partake of the images on the screen, knowing in your heart the truth of the matter, with My Spirit speaking softly, “Turn away”? Therefore, this is what I say...

Woe to those who lead My lambs astray,
And punishment to those who cause them to sin,
And death to those who corrupt them for evil’s own purpose...
To uphold that which they claim is of God, yet has no part with Me...

Woe to those who shame My name and bring disgrace to My house...

Woe! Woe, I say again...

WOE to those who take advantage of the little ones, to pollute My name!...

And destruction and great wrath for all those who murder the innocent!

Therefore, My children, turn away!...

And fall down and wail,
And bring before Me supplications for these who are perishing...

Yet of the children you need not pray on their behalf, for they are Mine!...

And I am come to steal them away!

(LETTERS FROM GOD AND HIS CHRIST)
