Gargle with warm salt water to help reduce swelling and relieve discomfort. Try using a humidifier or vaporizer, if you don't have one try putting a pot of water on the stove and let it boil. The water will evaporate thus putting moisture in the air. Hot fluids, such as honey tea or soup, may help decrease throat irritation.
Gargle with the product "Alkalol" You have to ask the pharmacist for it, but its not a prescription. Its used by singers and its all natural. The best part is that its not expensive and it doesn't taste bad.
Defiantly honey. Sugar feeds the bacteria in your throat that usually makes a sore throat worse, but honey has natural enzymes in it that help a sore throat. If you eat a little bit of honey, your throat feels better immediately. The downside to this is the soothing effect wears off, but it will still aid in the recovery. Defiantly warm water with lemon and honey too, that's a good suggestion! And rest up too, of course :)

- For fast and effective sore-throat relief, nothing beats an old-fashioned saltwater gargle. Salt acts as a mild antiseptic, and also draws water out of mucous membranes in the throat, which helps to clear phlegm. Dissolve a half-teaspoon salt in a glass of warm water, gargle and spit out. Repeat up to four times a day.
- Alternatively, gargle with a baking-soda solution. Dissolve one-half teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of warm water.
- Run a cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier in your bedroom. Adding moisture to the air will help keep the air from drying out and prevent the lining of your throat from becoming too dry. If you don?t have a humidifier, place a bowl of water on your radiator or heating vent each night. It will work as well as a store-bought device.

I agree with the honey and the variations. (tea with honey and lemon, honey with lemon, etc.....) but I recently found that drinking apple cider vinegar...one spoonful in warm water with honey also in the water, helps even more.
I always use 2 tablespoons natural honey and about an 1/8th to a 1/4th teaspoon of cinnamon. Mix it in warm water and drink it. It also works when you have the flu and colds, things like that. I like to continue mixing up batches and drink it all day or you can do once a day. If you don't like that much cinnamon you can play around with that.
