Well, apostle is really a person who goes to preach tp people. After people come to Christ, they gather at a place to praise the Lord, talk the word of God, and pray. The apostle is the way God uses to name a pastor for that group of people that are a church. And the apostle supervises the church through letters, or visits, and etc. The person who does that is the apostle, so in that term, there are still apostles today s days. Tho, many people are called apostles without really being apostles... Well, Gby
Paul wasn't a true apostle. He never met Jesus, and Jesus never commissioned him to do anything. Paul was a self appointed "apostle". I believe that had Jesus known Paul he wouldn't have appointed him as apostle, probably not even accept Paul in his movement, as Paul's ideas were on many important issues opposite to Jesus'.
Paul is an apostle BECAUSE he DID meet Jesus...... The resurected Jesus, On the Demascus road: Paul (Saul) knew it was Jesus..... When Jesus asked Paul (Saul) thru the blinding light saying:Paul(Saul), Paul(Saul), why are you percecuting Me?" Saul's name was changes to Paul! Therefore, Paul is called an Apostle. All other Apostles ARE witnesses and disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ!
The Greek word apostolos (which is transliterated - not translated - into English) means : "a delegate; specially, an ambassador of the Gospel; officially a commissioner of Christ ("apostle") (with miraculous powers):--apostle, messenger, he that is sent."
