I would use size 12 and anything that looks business-y. Don't use one of the more informal, "fun" fonts if you want to be taken seriously. Anything smaller than 12 would make it appear more dense; it's good to have lots of white space on a resume, which means leaving out the irrelevant stuff and being concise. Many people think that a "serif" font, which means one with "feet" on the letters, is easier to read.
Use size 12 to be professional and a few studie have said that Baskerville Old Face, as well as looking professional, is the most convincing font to use in essays, resumes, etc. Just something to consider.
NEVER USE a SANS SERIF FONT (for example Arial) for a Resume--it looks WAY too unprofessional. SERIF FONTS are the BEST for Resumes, and Serif Fonts are like Times New Roman. For the BODY of the Resume, NOTHING BIGGER THAN 11points.
As someone who has received and reviewed many, many resumes.... my main advice to you is to use 10-12 pt for your font size and use Aerial, it 's the most common.
Also, make your resume stand out from all the rest..... in color, a brochure type, a special paper, a small booklet, etc.
Also, remember this.... the squeaky wheel gets the grease.... in other words ..... the person you contacted me the most often and with professionalism, was the person I usually ended up hiring. I had one 19 year old who showed up at my restaurant for a solid 14 days in a row..... I hired him..... he was a great carhop.
