Translate point M(3, -4) left 5 units and down 2 units. What are the coordinates of image M'?

Report as

Translate in math means to slide the point. So that means you move (3,-4) Left 5 units and then down 2 units. So the new coordinate would be (-2,-6)

Supposse a point K at location K (-1, 4). What will be the new location of K if it is translated 2 units to the right and 3 units down?.

A figure is translated to the right 3 units and up 6 units. Identify the general rule that can be used to find the new coordinates of the image.

pleasse help me, I need your help.

up is add to the y coordinate. right is add to the x coordinates. down is subtract from the Y. and left is subtract from the X

Like guitar ^ said left means to subtract from the x coordinate, right means to add to the x coordinate , down means subtract from the y coordinate , and up means add to the y coordinate. (X,Y) x is always first ,y is always second in an ordered pair. So if its 2 units to the right and 3 units down, then you would add 2 to the x coordinate and subtract 3 from the y coordinate. So for (-1,4)... (Add 2 to the x coordinate) 2+(-1)=1 so your new x coordinate would be 1. Then you subtract 3 from the y coordinate. 4-3=1 so your new y coordinate is 1 so the new ordered pair is (1,1)

translate in math means to move. so you move it over 5 and then down two. it be comes (-2, -6) if you do it properly.
