I am 15, my whole family rejected me and I haven't been attending school, what are my rights?

Apparently the cops are going to come look for me and put me into foster care, I'm doing just fine on my own.

Well Im glad your doing fine and Im sorry that your family has rejected you (too bad for both of you) but someone in foster care will accept you and help you out for a little while and you can meet other kids who were in the same boat as you. Theres no reason why you wouldn't be able to continue working part time and going to school and if you dont like school you can go talk to a social worker at your school and ask them to help put you in a different kind of program I heard that they have programs where you can learn maritime school skills or go to school like 2 days a week and work harder but graduate early and then you can be on your own. May I ask what kind of job you are doing that allows you to make it on your own? good luck and my best wishes to you and developing a new relationship with your family showing them that you are something to be cherished

Until you are 18 years old, unless you are granted emancipation by the courts, you cannot legally live on your own. The State is within it's rights to pick you up, and place you in the foster care system.

There's no way I can fight them on it, I'm living with adults just not with my parents... I also have the question apparently when you're 16 you can move out of your parents... So why would I have to wait till I'm 16?

till I'm 18*

You can only move out if your parents let you, but they still have to financially support you. They may not agree to taht.

You cannot legally move out of your parents house until you are 18 years old, not sure where you heard it was 16. The only way you would be able to stay where you are staying is if your parents gave permission and signed over guardianship papers to them. Otherwise not much else you can do.

In Texas, you can legally move out if your parents approve and financially support you. It may not be the same in some other states, though.

I recommend you live with another relative and see if a friend or another relative can take you in or some close or that knows you hun and your situation also even talk to your grandparents about staying with them you half to live with a adult at that age unless you get emancipated and can take care of yourself and show that you can and that you have a job, place and all that im sorry but these are our laws and well i would want you to be safe and live with a friend or relative if not you may half to go into foster care hun im truly sorry but stay strong and get a job so you can support yourself

I had a comment about their pity party but it got removed. Sorry ain't going to do it. If the truant cops are looking for them, may have to repeat the whole year. Should have figured out the consequences before the stupidity.

Try to get emancipated

This will allow you to keep living on your own as long as you can support yourself. Go to the county clerks office and there should be paperwork for a court day and everything else there. Look up that your old enough to get emancipated in your state though. I know in CA the minimum age to get emancipated is 14. Good luck.:)
