Is 400 calories a day enough if Im drinking protein drinks with a lot of the nutrients needed to stay healthy?

Im also working out for about 2 hours. I drink some water but not a lot (like 4 8oz cups a day)

I was a nutrition professor for years. The lowest calorie intake I have seen was an 800 cal/day and that was medically supervised. A good idea for you would be to check out linear-software.com and use there free calorie calculator. It is accurate and incorporates age, weight, physical activity, etc. Then check out choosemyplate.gov and print out a free balanced diet for yourself.

not really. You need alot more. i heard that to keep a healthy weight, you need to just add a zero to the end of your weight and thats how much calories you need. Example, I weigh 120 pounds so I need about 1200 calories.

Goodness!! Not even close! A slice of bread is 60 cals!! Unless you REALLY wanna hurt yourself. I sugest you do some serious research or consult with a qualify experts before you go on such a diet without knowing how your body works.

from what I read. You NEED 8 calories per day, per pound. That is what you burn just for your body to function. This should be your minimum calorie intake.

Sedentary/Inactive - 10 times one's goal weight, Active - 15 times one's goal weight, Very active - 20 times one's goal weight 400 calories, for real? Starvation mode. Very unhealthy. Protein shakes are fine as a supplement to a healthy diet.

Are doing a total juice fast? Where do protein shakes fit into that cleanse?
Report as
Well i just heard my friend say something about it, but i didnt look it up completely. I thought protein shakes would be ok for that since its still liquid.

I have done a 7 day watermelon cleanse/diet without protein supplementation with good results. 3 days should be just fine. Keep well hydrated, and maintain any medicines as necessary. If there are health concerns, consult your physician prior to the cleanse.

It is highly unhealthy. I mean you say 400 calories a day so I"m assuming that's including whatever calories are in the protein drinks and the nutrients you're taking in. I honestly don't think you even have enough room for carbs with that many calories, and that's a very dangerous thing to do.
