The way my family likes it is to place a filet on a piece of tin foil, place a slice of lemon on top of the salmon and then pour a couple tablespoons of Italian dressing over the filet. Seal the foil allowing some room for steam and bake it.
get a cedar plank. they sell these especially for salmon in grocery stores and they aren't treated with chemicals. soak the plank submerged in some apple juice for about an hour . arrange your salmon skin side up on the blank. brush the salmon lightly with butter and tent it with some tin foil. place it on a preheated bbq grill ( medium heat ). monitor it for doneness as some bb q's cook quicker than others. don't overcook. often the bottom of the plank becomes blackened so monitor that too. when prepared right....it's omg good. serve with a bed of wild rice, butter, lemon and salt and pepper to taste
