"Wood Stock"

Have any lasting impressions if music of the times?

He was a major force in music. His presence and performances made a u-turn in music during that time which made a permanent impression of how music should be played and also perceived . . His performance at Woodstock was mesmerizing with his abilities outshining most other performances. The soul, love, and dedication he put into his songs and music were unmatched. It anyone doesn't know who he is, they definitely need to YouTube his Woodstock performance . He will be missed but thank goodness his influence has been and will always be felt in the world throughout ALL cultures.

There goes the sun:( I loved Richie Havens. I don't think his performance at Woodstock left much of an impression, sadly. Hendrix playing the star spangled banner kind of overshadowed every other memorable performance. But man, Havens was cool. That man had soul.

Well, that of course is relative to the person answering the question. Although he certainly had a following, I myself did not buy his albums, and did not enjoy his Woodstock performance, though I did appreciate his talent all around.

You know he was the opening act of Woodstock?
He finished the first set and was told "there is nobody else here, KEEP PLAYING" 3 times!
He was quoted as saying
"I played every song I knew"
any aficionado of music knows of his iconic Woodstock set

I'm pretty young. So if I said I was around during the era of Havens, I would be lying. But in my opinion, yes. Music lost an iconic figure. I think his songs were great and I think he was a true musician. Sadly, I guarantee not many people even know who he is at this point.

Loved his music, and very much admired the Man. He never pretended to be something he wasn't, lived to play and make others feel good. He may be gone but his influence lives on through the music and it's influence on others.
