I get it. I hate that too. >:( But I don't do that cuz I try not to make too much promises and when i do, they're simple ones like: i promise i'll eat breakfast tomorrow. or i promise to bring a piece of paper for the project. things like tht. a lot of people just get used to saying "I promise" to get others out of their skin. :/

thats horrible why do people do this
Report as
because they might just be trying to get something out of it and once they do they wont keep their end of the deal.

I agree with you but it shouldn't be that way. Why even bother making a promise that you can't keep? Well, there are many reasons why people make promises they do not keep.

Report as
Ah, Facebook..I remember I used to be a facebook-holic back in my middle school years. xD That social networking site has totally lost my interest now. It's all about Ask.com-ing for me now. Thank you. I try to provide helpful and relevant answers most of the time.

I can tell. Every time I'm on I usually see you on as well. It almost seems like you're on 24/7. now that i checked your profile, im surprised to see how much you've answered in just a few months! :O
Report as
Haha. xD 24/7 I'm more of an Askoholic. About four months = 5,085 questions answered and 9,181 helpful stars. Yeah, I would agree. I more surprised of how helpful I am.
Report as

LOL im at my friend's house taking a break from the popsticle house making. thought i'd log on and check the comments. :)
Report as
How far have you gotten on that popsicle house making?
Report as
well... the popsticles don't stick together and we tried laying it on the paper and it got stuck so we had to rip it out so we decided to meet up on friday to paint it and stack it together and then we should be about then after we cut open holes for the doors and stuff. :)
Report as
how bout ur debate?
Report as
That sucks. Hopefully it will stick together after all that. My biology debate isn't until next class period. I feel more confident and prepared for it. Heh, I know my team will win the debate since the other team didn't do their work.
Report as
At this moment, I'm working on a trial of prosecuting a Nazi war criminal.
Report as
do u guys get to pick your own teams or do the teachers assign them?
Report as
sounds interesting. xD we've had a bunch of small debates in school but it always ends up with the opponents getting in each other's faces and yelling xD
Report as
We don't get to pick our own teams, the teachers assign them.
Report as
oh that sucks. then it'll be all about luck when it comes to your members.
Report as
It should be interesting and fun at least. Haha. xD Debates aren't about opponents getting in each other's face and yelling.
Report as
Yeah.
Report as
It's more of a performance skill of proving your points.
Report as
LOL ikr. at first it starts out peaceful. Like last week. We started out taking turns and talking but towards the end people were cutting each other off and the teacher had to quiet everyone down. xD
Report as
I know what you mean by that.
Report as
It always get into others getting in each other's face and yelling that the next classroom can hear us. xD
Report as
not a good site. and me and my friends were just sitting on the side going over our notes and we didn't know what to do. ~ AWKWARD ~ xD
Report as
but then after the first half of our last debate the teacher made a rule that u get 2 points off every time she has to asks you to calm down. that shut everyone up.
Report as
"Not a good site?" What are you referring to? That one moment when everything goes silent and everyone's eyeballs are glued to you.
Report as
LOL not what i meant. i meant how everyone started jumping up and yelling and it looked like a parade instead of a simple debate.
Report as
I wouldn't want my teacher reducing my points for that.
Report as
A parade!! I like that. 8)
Report as
LOL once when my brother is like 2 years old he saw one for the first time and he tried to join in the marching. TOO CUTE :D xD
Report as
Aww... <3
Report as
ikr and we even brought him a little flag to hold :)
Report as
He probably got pulled out of the marching.
Report as
he tried to join and succeeded for a while but my mom pulled him out and said sorry to a bunch of confused adults watching and she let him march on the sidewalk xD
Report as
Speaking of parades, I never attend one before. I watched tons of parades on tv.
Report as
It would be a lot of fun to be part of one! :D
Report as
Poor guy.
Report as
i nv attend like any of those HUGE ones. before. just small ones on like the fourth of july there's one going by my neighborhood and on chinese new year there's mini ones a few blocks from my house.

Report as
ikr. so much red! :O *_*
Report as
You can't forget about the red envelopes as well!
Report as

Report as
Cacophonous firecrackers, the lion dance and mouthwatering food.
Report as
Depending on how much red envelopes you are receiving.
Report as
And the amount of money.
Report as
yup. and the staying on till midnight without parents yelling at u xD
Report as
Just that one time of the year without Asian parents yelling at you.
Report as
LOL ikr and NO CHORES :D just a day to relax without my parents breathing down my neck telling me to study.
Report as
Agreed.
Report as
I been meaning to ask, are you Chinese or Vietnamese? ( re-connecting to the question about Chinese New Year)
Report as
chinese. u?
Report as
Viet.
Report as
cool. :)
Report as
I'm curious, is Chinese that hard to learn? I know there's Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese. The writing part looks more challenging. ( especially the kanji Chinese characters)
Report as
well... the writing is more difficult but the speaking part is actually pretty easy.

It's the culture of today. Years ago a mans word and a handshake where all that was needed period. People were prompt, not only did they show up on time, they also went through with what they said they would do. It all came down to respect & loyalty, 2 aspects they are no longer a part of life. When you don't respect things you just don't care.

Interesting question , I always intend upon keeping promises , yet worldly things often hinder the path to immediate satisfaction , I promised a cherished friend I would quit smoking , yet I failed the first time , however I continue to proceed in the steps to quit , now I almost have COMPLETLY stopped , I will , it just not overnight ,
Now I know that I must correctly choose the words I use carefully , instead of telling my special friend I will quit IMMEDIATLY , I should've said I will try my a**off and will succeed , hope I get a hug for it too!!
