I get it. I hate that too. >:( But I don't do that cuz I try not to make too much promises and when i do, they're simple ones like: i promise i'll eat breakfast tomorrow. or i promise to bring a piece of paper for the project. things like tht. a lot of people just get used to saying "I promise" to get others out of their skin. :/
I agree with you but it shouldn't be that way. Why even bother making a promise that you can't keep? Well, there are many reasons why people make promises they do not keep. Like - to avoid confrontation or to aspire to be more than they are
It's the culture of today. Years ago a mans word and a handshake where all that was needed period. People were prompt, not only did they show up on time, they also went through with what they said they would do. It all came down to respect & loyalty, 2 aspects they are no longer a part of life. When you don't respect things you just don't care.
Interesting question , I always intend upon keeping promises , yet worldly things often hinder the path to immediate satisfaction , I promised a cherished friend I would quit smoking , yet I failed the first time , however I continue to proceed in the steps to quit , now I almost have COMPLETLY stopped , I will , it just not overnight , Now I know that I must correctly choose the words I use carefully , instead of telling my special friend I will quit IMMEDIATLY , I should've said I will try my a**off and will succeed , hope I get a hug for it too!!
