Would you sacrifice a some of your freedom for a better sense of security?

No. Because I can defend myself. My life is my business and my responsibility.

Security is knowing I have freedom. So that seems counterproductive.

Well I had in mind, for example: Walking outside is freedom. It could be dangerous. What if you where not allowed to walk outside because it was unsafe? This is of course an over exaggeration.
